I woke up this morning to see a strip of my hammer coral missing. It looked absolutely amazing/healthy as of last night.
It doesn’t appear to have BJD upon viewing the missing section.
After testing my parameters, everything is well within acceptable ranges. One thing which comes to mind is that I recently adjusted the flow which I’m guessing could be a culprit. This hammers shape is rather odd, it’s definitely not too fond of moderate to high flow. I’ve witnessed a gaping mouth several times with full polpy extension. Currently the flesh surrounding the damaged section along with the remainder of the hammer is nearly 1” down the stalk.
With that being said, does this appear to be something in which I can rescue? In the past with LPS I’ve put super glue over the exposed skeleton to prevent further damage from occurring and had good results although I have yet to do so with euphylia.
Additionally I’ve heard of people using ChemiClean with good success yet I’m unsure of the best way to perform a dip. Any insight on the ChemiClean method along with advice on whether I should attempt to treat the skeleton or not is greatly appreciated.
As of tonight with the lights out
