I’m really happy with how my tank is going, given it’s only been going since May 2018. I’m aiming for a mixed Reef tank, mainly softies but will add in some SPS down the track.

The tank is an 80 gallon (320 litre) corner, so not a huge amount of clear swimming space (tank pretty deep).

At the moment my fish stocking is:
- x2 Azure Damsel
- x1 Lawnmower Blenny
- x2 Common Clownfish
- x1 Banggai Cardinal
- x2 Decora Firefish

Inverts and CuC
- x2 Scarlett Cleaner shrimp
- x1 Sand sifter starfish
- x4 Trochus
- x2 Nassarius
- x1 Strombus
- x4 ‘Algae’ Snails

I’m wanting to get one or two “hero” fish just to round out the list. Something a bit larger, but not too big. Something showy.

From my research my tanks probably not suited to Tangs. I was thinking maybe a One Spot Foxface, but not sure with my softies.

Anyway, I’d appreciate any suggestions that I can do some research on.

What do you think?

How about a C. Lineatus for your neck of the woods?

Or if you are looking for a tang I would do a Whitetail Bristletooth.

My foxface is kept fat and happy and has never nipped at corals. There is the potential risk though. Also the potential they too would outgrow the tank.

If you want to try a tang, you may consider a Yellow Eye Kole or Tomini. Either can flourish in a smaller tank. Don't know that I'd try adding more than one though.

Fox-face (mine doesn’t bother my lps or polyps), tomini tang (although not particularly colorful, still an awesome fish), Zoster or pyramid Butterfly (deep water planktivores/omnivores, not coralvore like other butterflies), watanabei or lamark’s Angels, any of the reef safe wrasses (flashers, fairies and lined), anthias as long as you keep a harem of one male and three or four females, cherub Angels (pretty but stay little and typically reef safe... not really a centerpiece fish) .... I’ll think of more!
