sump or fragtank

I have been doing some cleaning and I pulled out a couple broken 75g tanks out of the shed, one with a broken side and one with a broken end.
I took the one with a broken side apart and I am going to fix the one with the broken end

wile I have them apart I am planning on cutting the tank down about 4"- 6"

my question is should I replace the 40b I have for a sump now with the new tank or should I just keep it for a frag tank?
having the large footprint for a sump would be awesome
I dont need a frag tank, but dismantling the sump I have now wont be fun. and I have no idea where to start with baffles and dividers for a sump of that size


what would you guys do

I would upgrade the sump and make the 40 your frag tank.

You could use the 75 for your sump and use the extra space or add an extra baffle and make a little frag area. You could put a little par38 led over it and it wouldn't heat up your tank or take up much space. I did that in my 29 gallon sump and it worked out great. I have a little prop tank set up now so I moved the frags out of the sump but it worked really well. I didn't have the space that a 75 provides but the lights were bright enough to still grow chaeto under the frag rack.

I would just use a 75g but it is a little tall to go under my stand and still be able to work in it.
I dont need another frag tank but the size would be a sweet fragtank

i would make the 75g your sump maybe add your frags in the sump our even use the extra space in the 75g sump as a refugium
