I have been experimenting with different lighting options. My question is what t5 bulb combos would best mimic a 14k and 10k metal halide respectively?

I have more experience with metal halide, but I would say 2x blue+ with 2x Coral+ for a 10k look.

You will need to add some 6500k- ish bulbs.
This is roughly real 14000k each type.

Though both are 14000k they each will have a very different blue tone.

Do you know of an led on the market that would be able to mimic this effectively without a bunch of wasted light?

Well there really are many. How " close" or with the same character is sort of a personal choice. Some will tell you it's impossible, others that they have a very similar look with their LEDs
Now this is a Radio pro. Picked because it was handy.

How different is the spectrum from the mh's?
Decrease the deep red and blue a bit.

I'd favor using RGB as opposed to white though. You get more of that " crispness" of color.

There are freshwater LEDs that dip into saltwater as there are sw ones that dip into fw spectrums.
For example this " fw" light probably clocks in at 14000k. Uses 10000k whites, blue and some red/ green.
