I just bought this blue hippo tang. He looks perfectly fine under the aquarium lighting, but when the blue lights turned on, I noticed he was hiding in the rocks. I tried to record him while he was hiding and accidentally had my phone’s flashlight on. That’s when I noticed white patches on his belly that only show up under the flashlight. Can you please help me figure out what this could be? Could this be from stress? I have attached the pictures bellow.
Water parameters
Ammonia- 0ppm
Nitrite- 0ppm
Nitrate- 10ppm

May be skin irritation which they are susceptible to. For now keep an eye on the fish for any development of bumps or raised spots

Yes, I will keep an eye on it. It worried me because I have other fish in the tank, and I wouldn’t want disease to spread. I’ve never had any sick fish before. These aren’t the bumps you are talking about right?

My Large Hippo gets those whitish spots in different locations all the time. Sometimes stress, sometimes irritation from them trying to wedge themselves in between rocks which is perfectly normal. If you had him for a while I wouldn't be concerned, but like Vette said I would observe him closely. Hippos are not as bad as Powder Tangs but are susceptible.

The lumps I'm seeing here on the fish's belly are just food in its intestines. You want to watch for white pinhead sized spots, or if the fish flashes/scratches on surfaces in the tank.
