Atol my Buddy. I used it when they invented the stuff because I wanted to build that cool stirrer and I did. I used it for a few months and my tank never looked so bad. I stopped using it. I guess that was in the 90s.
I don't know why it was a failure, maybe my Kalk was mixed with anthrax. But it is much better now.
I do have some trouble with some Zoa's. The ones with the individual polyps not the ones that are all connected in a mat which do fine. I am not sure if it is to much light or not enough, to much food or not enough. To much Rap music or not enough.
I am dosing iodine as a test although I am 98.17% sure that will do nothing. I also increased calcium and magnesium as another test. Some of them I covered with a screen to reduce light. I really don't like reefing, I actually like experimenting. :D
I am pretty sure the problem is due to the sponges that covers all real estate that is not covered by coral. If I cut to much of it, my SPS dies because it exudes some noxious substance. I will never eliminate this sponge and it will be there until either I croak or the tank does.
All that "rock" behind this Possum Wrasse is sponge.
