Atol my Buddy. I used it when they invented the stuff because I wanted to build that cool stirrer and I did. I used it for a few months and my tank never looked so bad. I stopped using it. I guess that was in the 90s.

I don't know why it was a failure, maybe my Kalk was mixed with anthrax. But it is much better now.

I do have some trouble with some Zoa's. The ones with the individual polyps not the ones that are all connected in a mat which do fine. I am not sure if it is to much light or not enough, to much food or not enough. To much Rap music or not enough.

I am dosing iodine as a test although I am 98.17% sure that will do nothing. I also increased calcium and magnesium as another test. Some of them I covered with a screen to reduce light. I really don't like reefing, I actually like experimenting. :D

I am pretty sure the problem is due to the sponges that covers all real estate that is not covered by coral. If I cut to much of it, my SPS dies because it exudes some noxious substance. I will never eliminate this sponge and it will be there until either I croak or the tank does.

All that "rock" behind this Possum Wrasse is sponge.

Thanks Paul. Strange about the kalk as I have also been using from the 90s without issues apart from when I managed to dump a load onto my sump through my own stupid fault.

Atoll I think the Kalk in the UK may be better, ours may be mixed with peanut butter or whole wheat flour. I don't know.

By the way, what is the difference between the United Kingdom and England? Or is there a difference. All I know about the UK is the Beatles, Buckingham"s and Elton John came from there. :D

Also I see your Queen likes to Knight singers and just about no body else except Captain Piccard. Whats the deal and can I get Knighted for fish tanks? What does it take to be a Knight and if I get Knighted can I slay Dragons and save Damsels in Distress. I am not talking about damsel fish like blue devils. :p

Sir Paul of Jersey, slayer of models, king of the reef.

The UK is made up of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England. All have members of he UK parliament your Congress. Northern Ireland Wales and Scotland also have their own parliaments and have control of certain things like their budgets.

To be knighted you either have to have done well above and beyond to help your community, charities and the like. You can be knighted for services to industry and armed forces. MPs who have served for many years can be knighted and be given a seat in the house of lords. I would given.them a deckchair. Sports people and pop stars can also be knighted why I have no idea and many people say they shouldn't be. There are differently levels of Knighthood. You could have been knighted for killing a dragon but conservation came to late to save them and they were made extinct in the middle ages. The middle ages ended just before you were born. Some of those knighted can drive their sheep through central London but they refrain from exercising their right to do so as many sheep get stolen by kebab shops.

Unfortunately you won't get knighted for having a fish tank unless you supply fish to the queen to dine on. Seems if you have a lot of money and got it through debatable means you can also be knighted. Some of the biggest criminals in the UK get knighted but the fact they are criminals is kept quiet.

That's it in a nutshell but just about anybody can be knighted in fact a piece of steak was knighted in the middle ages and was knighted sir loin, I kid you knot that's true.

paul, do you know if theres like any list on amazon or anything to build a rugf? i have 20 lbs of crushed coral and its going to be a 10g tank. idk what i need to buy though

I love it. My wife was there in Shea Stadium in the early 70s when the Beatles sang there. I think she has something one of them threw away. Maybe a cigarette. Something stupid that I wouldn't want. ;Bucktooth

Oh great, I did that, but not for the UK so I guess it doesn't count and I will have to buy my own chair in the House of Lords (whatever that is) WE have a church so I guess the Lord lives there.

Now, how come you guys don't have a King and will you after the Queen goes as she can't live forever. Who will be the King and will he actually have to do anything? Can he have a fish tank and will he wear the crown, providing they can find it.

We here in the States waste most of our money on things I am not allowed to talk about, but you guys waste a lot on royal nonsense. Those horse drawn carriages must cost a fortune to tune up.
I won't even mention the cleaning bill for those Royal Guard hats. But they do look warm.

The Queens husband prince Philip wasn't even king maybe they didnt get married after all.and just lived in sin, he died last year. When Lizzy goes Prince Charles he with the jug ears will become king but he talks to plants and stuff and pushes conservation down our throats even though he gets driven around in big petrol guzzling limos and flys around the world.

We do waste money on Royal nonsense but apparently most of that money comes from American, Canadian and Japanese gullible tourists paying for it all. Those big fury hats the guards wear are called bearskins. My brother was in the Irish guards and for a period did sentry duty outside buckingham palace to keep the tourists out and
from pinching the queens dinner.

We have 2 rules and laws in this country. One for the rich and one for the rest of us. If you are rich you can afford to higher a very expensive lawer who can get you off with most things. They often call the reason a technicality but it is really money technically if you have money you pay somebody to Eles a few pounds and they get you acquitted.

Money does the same thing here and I imagine anywhere else.

You wouldn't believe what we are wasting money on here now but I can't mention it on here or I may get tarred and feathered which is probably something we learned from you guys almost 250 years ago

You need to buy an undergravel filter for that size tank. I know they still sell them and are very cheap.
Then you need a very small powerhead that can push water down the tube about 50 GPH.

Thats it.

I woke up today and my right ear is totally clogged. It isn't easy sleeping anyway because I have to wear this very big, bulky sling thing that is really for Girly Men and I don't need it but my wife thinks that if I don't wear it my arm will fall off at the most in opportune moment. I don't think so.

You can't really listen to"everything" the doctor tells you because he tells you the same thing he tells 97 year old Ladies with Gout. :(

I go to bed wearing the thing then in 5 minutes it manages to conveniently fall on the floor.

Anyway my clogged ear is an old people thing. You would be amazed the things that you wake up with as you age. Today it's a clogged ear. Tomorrow my arm may fall off.

The clogged ear is actually a good thing like parasites and hair algae and I use it to my advantage.

If someone is talking to me and I don't really like them or find the conversation boring, I turn my clogged ear to them and look interested. I may even stare at the ceiling and think to myself "Doot da do, Doot da do". ;Happy

The stuff in my ear is wax and us and bees all make the stuff for different reasons. I am not sure if bees have it in their ears or if they even have ears.

I am going to an ear Dr. in a few days and he will dig it out and maybe add some metheline blue.

No don't be silly. That is because of my double vision. ;Woot

We had a full day today. Neurologists, MRIs, blood tests and dentists. All for my wife. Then on our way home is the biggest liquor store in the US. No really. It's about as big as two Home Depots. Not the Home Depots in some back water town in Tunisia either. I am so thrilled. Not because we spent a little over $300.00 in there but the fact that they took all the Russian Vodka off the shelves and put up a sign that they won't sell it.

I just looked here and I don't have any or I would have poured it out. :D

But thats just me.
This week my tank is 51 years old. ;Woot

Perhaps ear candling would help. It removes the evil spirits. You probably heard something you shouldn't.

Even cures constipation.
and someone leaves you a nice pine cone and flower too.

Ear Candling was a big thing when I was young. Me and Washington used to have it done. Unfortunately when they did it to me, the smoke came out of the other ear on the other side of my head and the wax pooled in my nose. :(

Sorry...my touch screen copied/replied for me...always enjoy your stories/reef...prayers for a quick recovery! I'm on shoulder surgery #3 as well!

Good Morning. I just came back from an ear Doctor. What is that like an audiologist, hemotoligist, archaeologist or some other kind of ologist.

My left ear wasn't working so he took this special "Eheim" filter, connected it to a turkey baster and sucked out a mountain of wax.

In the next room there was this young girl sitting there making candles and selling them for seven bucks each.
