It may be from all those Fish and Chips. 😎
Possably but more more likely from my mams Scouse. A traditional Liverpool dish which puts hairs on your chest both male and female plus any other pronouns 😆

Nothing exciting on my early morning walk. Kind of a cloudy, overcast day.

My 2 Janss Pipefish are still alive but stay behind the rocks in the back of the tank.

Yesterday I went to two LFSs. One clean one with the ridiculously high prices where I only buy food and one filthy one where he practically gives fish away for free.

Of course the filthy one is my favorite and is where I buy my fish. (I don't have to worry about stupid diseases or any of that stuff) 😎
I was walking through the aisles and this small coral caught my eye. I forget what it's called but it looks like feathers so I wanted it.

As the guy was collecting it, I noticed a blue stripe pipefish in the next tank. I said to the guy, Wait a minute, you got a blue stripe pipe?

I have been looking for those for a couple of years. I normally have them but they only live about 5 or 6 years so I like to replace them. (They used to be very common but not so much now)
He said, Oh Yeah, I always have them. No he doesn't because anytime I see them I buy them and I am there all the time.

(This is one I had many years ago, he spawned many times and lived for quite a few years)

I don't care what they cost and he only had one. I said, How Much? He said $11.00. The price of a Starbucks Latte. 😊

I said how many you got? He didn't know so we looked through his tanks and only found that one. I will buy as many as he gets as long as they are females as the males are too macho and don't get along. 😬

So I said give me him and that coral which was $15.00. When I got home and opened the bags I see that he gave me the pipe and 3 corals.

(I love this guy and I have been going to him for the 50 years he has been there. I guess it pays that I bring him coffee whenever I go there)

I see one of my newish Janss pipes eating mysis but I don't see the other one eating. I know he is eating something because he has been in there for almost a month. Eventually they will venture to the front as my last one did, but not constantly.

They only eat very small mysis, not the PE mysis which are much larger.

I didn't want to go to that store because I knew I would see something I wanted and I have way too many fish, so many in fact that they have to take turns putting their heads in the water to breathe. 🥺

-Damsels are now going for $15.
True, and If I had one in my tank I would gladly pay someone $15.00 to get it out of my tank. 🥺

I remember when I was a kid and used to make models and other things those tiny bottles of Testors Paint sold for 10 cents. Now they are almost five bucks.

I said to the guy, are you kidding me, five bucks for this 10 cents worth of paint!
He said, yes but it's very good paint. I said, It should be at five bucks for a teaspoon of paint, how much for a gallon? 50 Grand? 😳

You pay a lot more for one of those pipefish in the UK Paul. We do get them quite often.
Atoll my friend. There are a few reasons I don't live in the UK. That is one of them.
$100,00 or so for a gallon, or a few liters of Petrol as you guys call is is also ridiculous.

I once rented a small motor bike in Bermuda and I brought it for gas. The guy said, How much petrol do you want. I said the tank is like a pint so fill it up, how much could it be?

It was way overpriced and a good Scotch would have been much cheaper, so I told the guy, I don't want to buy a new bike, just some gas. 😕

So Paul. I want to use a reverse underwater filter in my new tank. You have given me the design already. However you recently stated and I always wondered that you have to maintain them after a while. How do you do that when its under rocks ect?

Freenow, it is an "Undergravel" filter, not underwater even though it is underwater.
You have to stir it up occasionally and suck out the detritus so it doesn't clog. A couple of times a year is OK.

Thanks for that . Don't you filter out the detritus as you blow it around? Remember I built your cleaning system . I just don't see it being sucked into the filter. Sorry for being a pain its just me making sure I have it all straight in my pea brain

It all goes into my DIY canister filter with the 5 micron cartridge in it.
