Tank has been overrun

Hi there, there's a a lot of life in this tank and can't decide whether it would be best to give up or does someone know if there is some sort of remedy? It is a 20gal tank and I think most of it is caulerpa?, thank guys

Id probably give up, start over, then change username.

I imagine that anything that needs light to live is dead other then that algae. Have you tried total black out for a few weeks. maybe transfer everything to a large Rubbermaid. Then after a week or so. Take each rock scrub it in A bucket of fresh saltwater. And place back in tank. Never had a problem like that but it might work

I was thinking about doing that but it is so deep in the pores of the rocks and sand that I am worried that it will just come back afterwards or some spores left over will do the job. It really sucks because this tank is really old and has all sorts of little critters in it

If you take the time to clean it. And get a bunch of critters to eat it once it's at a controllable level. I really don't know enough about it or what eats it. But I know the feeling of wanting to save the good stuff. My currant tank was started with life less rock. And it has been hard to get all night time critters. When my lights are off the only thing moving around are hermit crabs and a few snails.

I had an aquarium led light before this pic, this one is temporary as I decide what I do, good eye

Easy fix....
1. Drain tank
2. Pull all rock out and Muriatic acid bath it
3. Get all new sand
4. Vinegar/water clean the tank
5. Put all back together

Will take a few hours total.

I was thinking the same thing. Time for a big tank upgrade to go with the sump. A seahare would think he died and went to heaven ;)

Ok, so I can tell that you run a highly efficient system here. First step is to get about 20 Tanks and drop them in there. They should start eating the algae. Then, for good measure see if you can find yourself a blue ring octopus. I have heard that they are loving pets that adore when owners handle them.

Thanks for the info, never knew about those. Would it be fine in a 20gal? I see they have some dwarf ones on liveaquaria. Do you think emerald crabs might work also?
