I don't judge what I do by what others do but like to see, appreciate and learn from what others are doing.
My approach is to have as natural a tank as possible so mine isn't pristine. But there is life everywhere in it, everything is healthy and growing.

I love seeing other peoples tanks. I will admit, when I went to Seaworld in Florida this January, I almost cried seeing the tanks. They looked so amazing. I had seen them maybe 8 years ago and seeing the growth was just so wondrous. I just sat and watched. I even talked to strangers about the fish and corals. Mainly because my daughter got bored and left me staring and I thought I was talking to her.
I enjoy seeing everyone's good and bad. I admit, I am terrible at photos and hardly take them. I do think to myself when I see those perfect photos, man, did they just set up that tank? What is their maintenance like? What great skills in photography.
Sometimes if pains me to see tanks that were more like my old ones when I had an issue and lost so much. But, it shows a lot about the personality of the person.
Here is my current set up. Brand new out of fallow and out of a massive tank change over. All baby corals ( some in qt still) and my clams are all in qt at the moment. So, spaces you see will be for giga, squammy, two croceas. Oh, lights just went out, so a bit dark.

I really enjoy seeing other people’s tanks!!! Gives me inspiration and motivation to make things better. I love reading about how different people maintain their reefs. I can’t wait to upgrade this little 54 corner tank! This tanks been set up 2 1/2 years. An evening shot, right before lights out.

I feel disappointed when I see a nice tanks because I see them as missed opportunities.

Nice tanks? There are many. Really beautiful tanks? None that I know of.

I tried to come up with a top 10 most beautiful reef tanks on youtube and I had to settle for 7 and I had to use more flexible criteria than I planned.

I have been studying reef aquascaping for a long time now and it's a tough subject. I began by trying to learn the techniques that freshwater master aquascapers use.

Many of these techniques can't be used in reef tanks but some can... and are never used though.

The biggest sin of reef aquascapes is lack of depth and it's something we can learn to improve in our tanks. There's no one that doesn't like a tank that looks deep.

I tried to make small changes on the right side of my tank to make it look deeper.

It helps me sit back and destress from the day. Watching fish and coral coexist is just amazing. Agree above with seeing God's creation at work. Also a bit discouraging when corals are dying and you can't stop it or fish sickness you can't figure out. But that's part of it all. I enjoy the whole shebang of it all.
