Thanks, hopefully by the time it outgrows the tank ill be ready to upgrade! Which should be about a year after we buy a house (I'm hoping)

Could you explain how you did the surface skimmer on the filter intake? Was it DIY or bought somewhere?

It was bought, just a regular overflow box with magnet on the back I think it's bad fish product.
 

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
