That’s what I’m talking about!
I saw how @Daniel@R2R did his Tank with the barnacles along with MANY other reefs and never saw them but finally asked my LFS and they said they had about 3 clusters. I may go back for the final one for my 4’ tank next week.

The final struggle will be getting a rock scape I enjoy to look at that also doesn’t remove too much swim room. I love tanks with pillars that have the coral growth fill out the rest of the tank.

Yes! If I got a new tank I would definitely do the barnacles!

I’d love any inspiration you guys have for what I could do with rock scape!
I’d love to try something like pillars and have the depth but it’s so hard in a small tank haha.
This is something similar to what I’d absolutely love to have. I just love the depth that’s depicted through this.

New scape who dis?
I really enjoy the added barnacles! It adds a new level of enjoyment. And I cant wait for my acro to encrust onto it and for life to take over the

Didnt take long for them to get their first inhabitant. Definitely going to add the second cluster to the 4’ tank :)

Here’s another photo from earlier, this was when the lineatus was deciding to be protective over his home and tried to chase away the Naoko.

He’s adorable! Now I do wonder whether to trade him in or let it slide.
You gotta follow your gut. I’ve seen the way you obsess over your acros, and I’ve seen the way you get sad when something happens to them.

It’s not an easy decision, but you will save money down the road by not losing acros that get nipped on.

Fair enough! It can be hard to lose something that you’ve worked so hard to achieve (I fought 2 years to get that acro). I’ll definitely have a think about it and see if he only went for that acro as it was an unhealthy specimen anyway.

I love the acros a ton, way more than I do with LPS and Softies. I think I’ll continue to look into Escenius pulcher and see how reef safe they are (they’re a much smaller species too). Absolutely would love a group of Barnacle Blennies in Atleast one of the tanks though.

Well this is an awkward situation, I have a half bleached acro and an acro that I can’t tell if it is bleached. But all of them except one has polyp extension and the one without PE isn’t bleached.

The one that’s half bleached is due to falling into the dark for an unknown amount of time. The blenny has just nipped the coral with no polyp extension. Now I’m just annoyed and confused

A few slightly better photos of the new 3.

Update:
After watching the blenny for a while it seems he’s not going for the actual coral in specific and instead trying to get the slime off of the coral, similar to what Acro Crabs do. He’s stopped going for the acros now that the main two have settled.

I added some extra flow to the tank today. Got a pump from the UK’s distributor - TMC or Tropical Marine Centre.
The polyp extension on them is stunning, and the Pink Milli seems to be gaining some beautiful colours but growth I don’t think is occurring, obviously I could be wrong though.

Tanks comming along nicely!

The hardest thing I find with my nano is to set it up and then keep your hands out of the system.
Most systems that are undisturbed seem to work better in the long run from my experience.

Scapes are the same way as once the rocks are in the corals grow at their own pace.

Its hard for most to visualize what their system will look like in a year or two.

As the corals grow in your scape will change and the rockwork will become less visable.

Its very hard to create depth in any system <24" deep, imo.
36"-48" depth and you can really get some cool depth perception going.
