Hi Glenn,
congratulations for your superb way of reefkeeping!

As my tank was almost collapsing i' m right now at that stage at which u have eben a few years ago. At the moment i just leave my tank, and keep it with minimum effort just alive.... I lost too much corals and was very near of quiting the hobby.

Been there done that..
I feel you.....

I've read all 23 pages pyuuuuuh

I for once think this method works for a lazy person like me .. no WC required ever Yohoooo ... Lol i was wrong, am I .. this is no lazy man's method!

Would you consider no WC for 3 months (so far) and dosing only 4 elements (Ca, Alk, Mg & Carbon) be considered DRS? Or would DSR is ones that apply all dosing can be considered DSR ?

And that calculator @glennf .. why is the ml solution for correction do slightly differs to Randy's recipe #2 ?

@Squamosa is that you Tony Sal?

- is there a guide, or how would u start a tank right from the beginning?

Things to know for starting a new tank:

-live rock/dead rock, any bacteria?
-lighting full from beginning ( 12hours, intensity 100%)
-beginning no nitrate/phosphate dosing, but what if nutrients too low (dead rocks, almost no fish)
-how increase live stock ( first corals, than fish, weekly how much?!)
-when Start dosing what? (time for Nitrate/Phosphate)
-only skimmer and Media Filter (uv only for special Fish )
-how much flow for return pump
-which food for automatik feeder

Maybe when there's time u/ or other DSR users can answer some questions?!

Thank u and happy reefing!
Flo

Once you are on cruise controle an everthing on dosingpumps it's quite "lazy". You just need to do your "homework" first.

DSR is just a good working set of tools.
You may decide how much of it suits yours need.

The solutions are near saturated and are paired with the calculator for optimal space-saving.

I am using zeovit , how to transit over ?

Can I just use ez carbon for the time being ????
You can switch bij just stopping one and start with then other.
In dsr you measure and follow the advice given bij the calculator.

Starting with the EZ carbon is a good and easy way to control nutrients (both po4 and no3)

Hi Glenn,

I haven't read your perspective on fish diseases, what are your methods for dealing with ich, velvet etc?

Thanks!

Hi Glenn, appreciate your thread. I have a question in another forum regarding iodide testing. I haven't been able to locate an iodide test in the states, it appears salifert used to sell one here, but I'm not sure they even manufacture it any longer. Do you test for iodide currently, or iodine?

Not very much , i guess is have my share of luck and misfortune.
Avoid bad fish bij selecting healthy speciment and shops with ill and skinny looking fish.
Avoid overpopulation , 24/7 UV and ozone schould help
