Hi Glenn, appreciate your thread. I have a question in another forum regarding iodide testing. I haven't been able to locate an iodide test in the states, it appears salifert used to sell one here, but I'm not sure they even manufacture it any longer. Do you test for iodide currently, or iodine?
Forget the test.
Start dosing 0,003ppm per day may keep the iodine available.

Hi Glenn! Great method! I have a few questions about DSR?

1. I was wondering what the difference between the EZ carbon and the CarbonVS would be?
2. Do you also use GFO alsong with the liquid iron phosphate removal?
3. For the dry ingredients like KH+ and CA+, do you measure them in grams and then dose directly into the tank or do you mix them in a liquid and put them in a doser?

Thanks!!

The full DSR control all parameter separately and use the Excel calculator
http://dsrreefing.com/dsrcalculator/
Fe: controls PO4
CarbonVS: controls Nitrate
Both are liquids

Seing my results, many reefers wanted to get started, but complained about:
- they can't understand the excel based calculator.
- they also found it to much handling, to much work and to complicated for them to get started with.

So i took away all "problems" and design a new dosing system specially for them. I named "EZ" (EaZy ).

Now they start without a calculator, but with simplified baseline dosing from 4 bottles derived from many DSR running tanks. The EZ system get 90% result from the FullDSR with far less effort.

EZCarbon (unlike CarbonVS) is used to control both PO4 and NO3.
1 dosing channel less to setup[emoji6].

DSR controls every parmeter without regular waterchanges.

You don't need anything else...
Anything you combine may be counterproductive.

Look up the technical requirements in here:

Hey Glennf im faciniated by your method. Particularly iron dosing to remove phosphate. Can you tell me what kind of iron to use and how much to dose?

First post. :)

FE+

He has his own line now too I believe.

I lean towards Randy's opinion on it.

Explanation appreciated or not ?

it is a way to work without water changed and composing your own salt (as a base).

if appreciated i will go ahead and explain how it work for me and the dutch reefing community

this is a screenprint of the excel sheet i use for water correction

It's a Iron Chelate made of FeSO4 and a citrate . It's something similar to randy's formula but with a little twist, as i stated before, i will not reveal the solutions formula's and mixing ratio. I just explain how i use it to archieve results.

Glen I am starting my first reef tank. I have been reading all our your threads. I am lean towards your DSR method. Is there anything different that needs to be done when starting a tank from scratch with the DSR method?

This is what I found out for po4 and no3. Now I keep both higher than NSW and i keep 180 species growing in here.
Few people who couldn't keep discusoma, zoa's, soft corals and lps like acan's alive, contacted,
me and tried this out and were succesfull.
what numbers do you maintain po4 and no3 at glenn ?
