It has Ben a while I have updated my build tread. I have been busy and while I haven’t abandoned the aquarium it was running on autopilot sort to speak.
And of course the war we don’t talk about here also diverted at least some of my attention to twitter.
But there are some new things in the heater failure build.
I have decided to give another go to a CBB. I was in the shop about 3 months ago and this one said take me home. :) She (or he) was eating frozen in the shop and was the right size and healthy so I said ok then.
I went trough a few things trying to get her settled. First I had to divide the aquarium with a net so the Scopas tang couldn’t get to her. The fight calmed down in about a week or so while I had constant battle with the net moving and breaking corals.
Thanks to the large amount of feather dusters feeding wasn’t a problem during this time.
Than this bugger didn’t want to eat anything I had to offer ( clams, frozen food, even tubifex) so ended up ordering live black worms online to get her started. At first used a coral feeder but it was way to label intensive. Washing the worms wasn’t my favourite too.
I have started to search and came across
probably the cheapest worm feeder in the world from Ali express. Cost me a £5 for 2.
Feeding black worms this way was heaven comped to coral feeder but my better half was upset about worms in the house. Well it is temporary I said and soon turned out to be right.
After about 2 weeks I started to put frozen to the feeder replacing 1 live feed and bingo she is happily snacking away, picking food from the feeder later going after swimming food too. Now only frozen food coming from there
She is not big on eating aptesia though. Excepting it from a tweezer but not eating it from the rocks.
As result of feeding like maniac I went trough a 3-4 week cyano outbreak with sky high nitrate and phosphate levels. A couple of water changes and more cheato harvesting took to back to near ideal levels and of course the chemiclean also was required. Now more or less free of the aftermath of the changes.
The corals otherwise growing nicely. I have some spares I have t take to the LFS to replace maybe some other easy SPS f some sort and my hammer needs trimming back but I don’t have the hart to do that yet.
