The unfraggables

I didn't want to put this in a specific coral thread so its in the general discussion. What are the unfraggable corals? Either because frag would kill them or they just wouldnt be practical.

Scolys, some fungias, what else?

I would say elegance coral. They can be fragged with minimal success, but not by the average hobbyist.

I have fragged over 100 wall hammers and some make it long term but I watch a ton of the frags eventually crap out, one of the only corals that gives me a hard time

Nope :) if you cut them with a razor exactly 1/2 and split the mouth in 1/2 they will grow :)

I seen rhyzo fragged and they do fine after they get fragged. They do take along time to reproduce.

You can also frag scolys but the take forever to grow back into a circle.

I have heard about this but have never seen one. Does anyone have pictures of one? I read something that said it would take 10 years for the skeleton to form a circle again.

This would fall under the not practical. I mean save a few dollars vs. waiting forevere for it to look whole again? I'll just save the half dead ones instead :)

If you build a prosthetic skeleton around it the scoly shouldn't take that long to fully form.
