Just lost my eightline flasher today. He managed to jump through the smallest gap in my clearview lid. It's amazing how they find these little spots. Sucks.
Sorry for your loss. Yes they knew where any small crack is. Had a Madagascar jump and knock a feed door out of my top. Someone found him in time. Other day I found him on the floor again. He hit the top hard enough to lift it to squeeze out of a small crack. New tank won’t have any cracks or feed doors and I will keep the top weighted down

Hmmm based on the description of your Scott's you may actually have a C. melanomarginatus instead. Does your Scott's have very little or no black on the anal fin?
He has no black in his anal fin, is C. melanomarginatus often confused with Aussie Scott’s?
It’s got the anal fin of the Australian Scott’s in this photo from BRS but it has the dorsal fin of the C. melanomarginatus, just it’s the same red as in the Australian Scott’s.

his color is dark but the lights and in pictures he looks darker. When he is feeling like the king he lightens up and more color shows. He is big but startles easily. He is a jumper and always hits the top.

Keep us posted. Hope it all works out. Can you use egg crate or something until your top comes?
I think I will use egg crate. Used it in the past.. Will be better than this diy BRS top. Clearview said my top won't be ready till December 19th

Here’s a photo of the anal fin
That “black” you can see towards the top of the Amal fin is green.

And the dorsal fin (I can’t get him to stay still long enough and have his fins displaying long enough to get a photo of both).

You definitely have Melanomarginatus and not Scottorum. They get labeled as "Scott's" often.

That’s annoying - I got told this guy was 100% an Aussie Scott’s just a transitioning male. Do they get as aggressive as the C. scottorum? I’d rather have an Aussie Scott’s that’s aggressive then an aggressive Melanomarginatus.

Take out all rockwork, get the net, lower the water to about 3/4 full then try to get the sì line out with a net.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake. Most people can't tell the difference between them that's why the guy probably thought it was still transitioning since the coloration wasn't as vibrant. I've never personally kept either wrasse, but my understanding is that they are equally aggressive.

Maybe. It’s colours haven’t changed a bit though - The dorsal pattern may have become more defined though. In all honesty, as long as the aggression isn’t too bad I may keep him but I doubt I will since I want an Indonesian dominant tank - And I’d love to have a male Aussie Scott’s from the colours being not too much and not too little.

Cool news for my fellow wrasse lovers ...

Very pretty wrasse! I’ve never even heard of it. I may try get more uncommon wrasses at some point in the future!

So I couldn't resist adding a little 2" 6 line to my reef. What a cool little powerhouse patrolling every inch of rock for a snack. I know he may develop bad habits later but hoping since he's small, he will get to know his reef neighbors well as he matures and hopefully not turn into a tank bully. What a beautiful fish though along side my other wrasses.
