This is a large thread, so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed here, but does anyone have recommendations for a Wrasse that would do well and be comfortable in a 30L (30 gallon-36" long) tank? Looking for something with a peaceful demeanor if possible and I'm still relatively new to the hobby, so ease of care is a plus
Yellow coris, they stay small, brilliant color, swim all day but sand sleep at night, eat pests in the tank.

36”? For a 30l? Are you sure it’s definitely a 3’ tank??
How tall is the tank - If it’s very shallow you need a lid more than anything. As for wrasse, maybe a Lubbock’s fairy (Dependant on how aggressive the one you get is - I highly doubt it’s going to be aggressive though), Pink streak wrasse or any of the possum wrasse.
Other wrasse include:
- Halichoeres Iridis (Only if it is a true 3’ tank, I would say by the end of it these need no less than 48” of swimroom)
- Cirrhilabrus naokoae

Honestly, a lot of the smaller wrasse that stay around 3” at max size will fit - avoid flashers, after watching them dart in the LFS I highly doubt one would be alright in a 3’ tank.

Pink streaked, or any of the possum wrasses if you can find them.

Yeah, it’s the innovative marine 30long. 36” long and about 12” deep. Does have a screen top

Then, most of the smaller fairy wrasse and some of the smallest of leopards would work - Just remember the tank MUST be seeded with pods for these guys but if one is eating frozen they are easy as any other wrasse (Be careful with potters and choati’s as these are near to impossible to get to thrive as a beginner)

Well, I lost my Hawaiian flame . Was just transitioning to male. Went away for the weekend and he was gone when I got back. Thought he was in the overflow with my lineatus but no dice. Definitely was my favorite fish.

This kind of spooked me today. I was adjusting my ATO today from behind the tank and saw a shadow in the right side overflow. Threw some pellet in there and a bright orange wrasse came out from behind the Durso. 2 MONTHS!!! Thought this flame was long gone. Not sure what he was eating. Going to be a royal pain to get to that overflow. Still waiting for my Clearview lids so I can ditch this junk.

A small naoko was bad enough, I couldn’t even try to imagine how hard it would be to get something like a Flame or Scott’s out of an overflow.

Glad you found him. Watch I had wrasse knock feeding doors off and still land on the floor. My Madagascar is always jumping and hitting the lid.

This pic shows the poor access to the right overflow. The ladder stays outside the door jam and I have to lean over while one hand is on the outside of the door header. One time the ladder kicked out while I was doing this!

That is probably the worst access I’ve seen. For sure looks like it was a nightmare, first to get the fish out and second to actually try access the chamber.

Oo, there’s one I can properly ID! That is no juvenile either!! That is a male Cebu Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse.
Look at a previous post from me on here and there’s both my adult male Lubbock’s together - Still living in harmony together too.

She hasn’t grown much. I would say maybe 3”. She only eats what she needs while the other fish pig out.
The rhomboid is maybe 2” and this is now him got him a year ago at about 1 1/4” not sure how he changed so young or I’m being fooled lol

Nice! He looks great! My rhomboid is pushing 4" and is finally a sub-male. My diamond tail flasher tries his best to keep any females I get from transitioning.

I think rhomboid is my favorite fairy. At least top 2. The Diamond tail is a show stopper! Wrasse seem to start transition quick for me. Always starts with them chasing their reflection. Transition is my favorite thing with wrasse. Any info to be found on size and aggression with Nursalim? Would love to have one hunted down in a couple years
