The break was on my side of the meter so my responsibility. TBO I was glad to find someone to come out as quick as they did. I'm also thankful the break was right at the meter and they were able to make a repair vs digging a new line 350' back to the house through 30 years of tree growth.
Yeah, a bill for 350 ft of repair would have hurt. Not that I'm saying the bill you got didn't but the difference would have been staggering.

You don't even want to know what the city is charging people to hook into city water and sewer here. It's not optional, once they hit your zone, and the bill is coming in a $40,000+ per home. One reason that charge is so high is that the city is charging to build the infrastructure and not just charging for the run from the meter to the home. Additionally, they make you disconect from your well and also fill the septic tank with concrete. They've not hit my zone and aren't supposed to for several more years. There are people that are selling their homes to get out of here and many people on fixed incomes who have been put in precarious positions. It's a big nightmare.

Wow... We don't do that. We give you the option. If you stay on well, it's your choice until you want to switch to city water. But, once you switch to city water, you have to pay for sewer as well as water and you can't go back to the well afterwards because of the potential cross connection. As far as septic or sewer, you're paying for sewer so if you want to pay for your septic and sewer, that's just extra cost on you.

This is how it is done everywhere. I have never heard of it being done the way the City of Cape Coral is doing it. Here is another interesting fact: Cape Coral has the oldest RO system running, in the country. Their water is crap. Boil orders are a regular thing and the water has odor to it. My inlaws are on it and it is no good. They use a stainless water bowl for their dog. Same as the ones we use for our animals. Thier's has rusted twice. Ours are like the day we bought them. Then, again, I have designed and built several whole-house RO systems with additional filtration.

Plans for when I get home next weekend:
Siphon sand hopefully to clean up the cyano issue.
Order lids from Joe for the 180
Set up the 8g and get the light from Amazon. (Thinking its HQ time since I have so many stars anyway.)
Snacks for sunny.

$$$$$$$$
There is the P1S or A1 combo on sale now.
Those are both very good machines. I have an A1 and it is much easier to maintain than an Ender and I much prefer the slicer. The P1S allows you to do a few more engineering-grade filaments that require an enclosure but otherwise not much difference in performance to the A1. Neither the A1 or the P1S come with hardened hot ends so you will need a few inexpensive upgrades if you print carbon fiber, glass fiber, etc. 80%-90% of what I print is plain PETG and either machine is more than good enough. If you go multi-color the P1S is probably the better choice as the AMS is a better option than the AMS lite. I very rarely use multi-color though.

Any Prusa fans? Been eyeing the Core 1 + MMU3..
The Core 1 is a really nice machine but if you get one I would hold off on the MMU as I think the Bondtech INDX system on it is going to be a real game changer. You will be able to retrofit it to the newest iterations of the Core 1 (I think its called the Core 1+) Prusa has also recently released an open source filament RFID system, like the Bambu one, but it is open source and offered to any company that wants to implement it. I hope it takes off. The newest iterations are priced close enough to the Chinese brands that it is worth a little more to support the company that still supports all of the printers they have released, allows you to upgrade old systems to newer versions and developed the slicer that is the basis for both the ORCA Slicer and Bambu Studio. They've always been out of my price range but now not so much as the Core 1s are very close in price/performance to Bambu and open source.

I miss the sound they made.

Have you seen the guy that hooked a bunch of these, floppy disk drives, and scanner beds up to VFDs and is using them to make 'music'?

This is really cool. Also, see above comment about the sound.
