Just checked the girls and I successfully did a 3 to 1 split. I had one hive make it through the winter last year. I now have that hive, that they naturally requeened themselves, and 2 additional queen right hives from the same stock as the original. So rather then spend money this weekend on the one live sale I have been waiting all year for I get to buy more frames and boxes. Girls gonna need a bigger place to live. All 3 are laying like Champs and at this rate I hope they will have enough to get them through this winter.

I will name them after the 3 fairies in sleeping beauty. Merriweather will be the first one that I showed pix of before. And these 2 will be Flora and Fauna.
In tank news. Tested parameters this morning and alk is working its way up. The baking soda in the ato seems to be doing the trick for now. MG is slowly coming down. We should have a clearer idea of steps to take once icp test results are back. Ca creeped up a bit which I thought was odd but I don't know the exact relationship bw alk and ca so it could be that. Po an ni are steady.
