Any strong arguments against the triton method and to instead do water changes? I've ran the method for several years with great coral growth (sps, euphyllia mainly) and haven't had any issues on my ICP tests but don't know if I'm biting the bullet on anything that might appear years (decades?) down the line. I'm building a new tank soon and open to other ideas if somethings better.

Some folks have different ideas of what the Triton method means.

What does it mean to you?

That said, water changes won't maintain certain trace element levels at the same level as the new salt water unless you change 100% daily.

I'd been doing 0 water changes for several years and just been doing Core 7 + dosing missing elements from ICPs. Is there any benefit to a water change if it's not replacing my trace elements and I'm not running into any issues?

Yes. Water changes remove things that may accumulate that you do not or cannot test for, such as organics.
