To QT or not to QT

I'm debating setting up a qt before my build is done. Never have on previous tanks so I have a couple questions!

1. Who's quarantines and who doesn't and why?

2. Do you quaritine just fish or Corals and inverts also?

3. . If you do, do you just observe or do you treat any possible diesese even if no signs?

4. What's the recommended time to keep fish in QT and when to release into the main display?

I can tell you I dont do it myself (don't trust myself to do it right) but I only buy fish that are QT and so far no issues all fish happy and healthy
