Too much flow? Wavemaker position?

Hello,



Could this be too much flow? My xenia doesn’t wanna extend all the way and my toadstool only extends on the sides? My sinularia is extending fine but is slouching ha
My clownfish is also avoiding the flow but he could be hiding because i just moved him from my other tank.

I have a jebao sow3 & sow4 on either side of the tank, i added pictures.

I would love some insight from you guys :)
Don’t mind the algea, i added a cuc & they are doing alot of work atm!

To me it looks rather minimal. Corals and fish can take flow, they come from the ocean. Try to position the powerheads so the flow bounces off each other to create more random flow patterns. The flow is obviously pushing one way, but the coral should wave back and forth, not just push one way.

Also try to aim one or both of them at the water surface to agitate the surface, it should never be flat.

They are positioned against eachother & one is aimed towards the surface (bottom one)
How can i adjust them to wave back & forth?

I’d say no. But alternating the flow would be preferable. It won’t be at its best if only blasted from the single side. Imho

Try setting the each pump to be on for a longer period of time. Alternate of each other as well as a short period of time when they are both on. If they are both set to say 40 seconds, get the second one to turn on 30 seconds after the first one. Alternatively, you can set them as master/slave and use an alternating flow pattern. Check out this video.

It can take a bit of tinkering. It took me hours sitting in front of the tank to get it dialed in. Remember to wait 5 min or so in between changes.

Yes I have a sow 3 and slw30 and run them on master and slave . I also have them on W1 if that helps

Thanks all! I’ve put them against eachother a couple of inches below the water line & put them in master/slave mode w1.

My sinularia isn’t slouching anymore & my xenia is doing a slow dance left to right.

Also alot of detritus came loose, good sign right? :)
