So just like it says - trachy doesn’t fold - I bought it as a WYSIWYG , yet in my tank its always flat ?

Has been in my tank for over a month with no change , on the sand

It looks healthy. Trachyphyllia are very slow growers. It takes time for these to build up the flesh and skeletal structure to produce that folded look you're after.

Here’s the other shape it takes

Puffed up , or flat . But never folded like the original pic

As long as it’s healthy

That's a very nice looking Trachy. Truth be told, I think most of the pictures you see on WYSIWYG listings and even specimens in LFSes are generally much more wrinkly than they should be because they're unhappy.

This specimen looked super wrinkly in the store because it wasnt fully expanded. Its got the one or two folds and it was definitely a pretty mature specimen when I bought it

Yeah this is kinda what it looked like ! And seems to be what most of them look like . I honestly just felt like maybe I was doing something wrong .

It’s definitely not as big - maybe 4-5” across

Even at $1000 for a specimen, a lot of vendors can't get a picture of a healthy, happy looking Trachy. The one at the link looks super wavy because it's flesh is pulled close to it's skeleton.

Ouch !!! Talk about dollar signs .

Yeesh . I waited till a sale and spent $150? I think .

But I’ve just accepted the vendor pic and mine will never be the same .

However , I notice lots of people posting these beautiful folded trachys and I thought mine was super unhappy . Maybe when it gets bigger it will fold .

The other coral I’ve been super surprised at is Acans , and the JF Freak hair pavonas the pics I bought vs what I have now are night and day

$150 is super cheap for a trachy like the one you got. You did good on that deal

Mine is the same way as yours. Very plump and spread out. Sign of happiness.
