Hello everyone, I came to the hard decision of selling my tank, I have just started a new business so I barely have time to keep up with the tank and I wanted to downgrade to a smaller tank I have so it’s easier for me to do water changes and such, I have a blue hippo tang and she’s acting weird, hasn’t been eating and now is losing and regaining color while laying on the sand, but here is my question, I have a 75 gallon tank with a 25 gallon sump and I wanted to transfer my mandarin and my 2 clownfish to a smaller tank which is 13 gallons, how could I make it a safe transfer for the fish and how could I reuse most of the stuff I have in this tank to make the process of recycling the new tank quicker… thank you everyone!

Using your current rock in the 13 gal will eliminate the need for any cycle. I would be more concerned that the tank size would be too small for the 3 fish mentioned.

Alright, I’m not sure how much bigger the little clownfish are gonna get they already asserted who’s the male and the female one of them I’ve had for 2 and some years and he barely grew anything while the other one grew a lot and the mandarin is bigger than when I got him and I’m not really sure how big they can get you know

And do you think if I transfer the rocks the water from this tank into the smaller one and maybe some sand? I know sand is a risky game to play with and all but I think it could help with something no?

Mandarin should be in a 55g + to support the copepods they need for food. Clowns generally need a 20g + and can be very territorial.
