I’m generally not a big reviewer of products but I feel like everyone should know this product exist in this hobby whether your a rookie or a pro. I stumbled across this and thought what the heck I’ll give it a shot. @tritonreef. TRITON Applied Reef Bioscience. Now with there ICP tests you can subscribe and they will custom mix you your major and minor elements. Jullian has been on top of every question I’ve had.
answers all questions super fast and is so helpful. For the amount of money we throw at our tanks I feel like this is a very small purchase for piece of mind and knowing you are truly adding elements your tank may be missing. I have thrown away more money than I care to admit not knowing if what I was putting in was actually helping. It’s super easy you sign up at there website fill in your info. They mail you three tubes you fill them with tank water and mail back in there return box and bag.”important to use the box ask me how I know” Wait a few days and BAM they give you your results and ship you your two bottles of major and minor elements. It’s that easy they explain how to dose and away you go. The bottles are shipped very well. Taped shut so they don’t leak. The whole overall experience has been amazing. Tang gang approved

I think the fundamental question is whether this level of measurement by either Triton or Moonshine results in a reef tank that is demonstrably better than a tank using a much simpler supplementation scheme, such as a stand alone trace system like Tropic Marin A and K, or one that combines these into an alk and calcium system, such as the many 2/3/4 part systems available commercially or diy.

I did see this a few months back, it's very expensive for what you get, especially if you have a large system.

It does look like an easy, convenient way to dose elements though.

I have a 200 plus gallon. It’s $100, the tests are normally $50 I’m sure it may be cheaper to do the test and then buy all your trace elements separately. For me it’s the fact that they mail me the test once a month. They take all the guess work out by combing what you need into two bottles. Life gets busy for me with traveling for work and taking care of other things in life. this makes it easier for me. I rely on my apex more than I care to admit since I’m away from my tank a lot.

I was using products that had trace elements in them. After years with ICP tests I have found my system goes through a lot of different elements that would need dosed daily. This has cut back on even more dosing heads. And tons of bottles everywhere.

I agree, it's completely about the convenience factor. Generally, the more convenient something makes your life, the more expensive it tends to be!

I agree there’s always more than one way to skin a cat. For me I like seeing what my tank is lacking or over exceeding. Everyone’s tank is different. I just think this is a very convenient way for some people to be able to test and take some of the guess work out on what to dose. We always say stability is key. for me time would get away from me and I would forget to send a test out. Or order one since no one sells them locally here. This keeps me consistent with my tests.

Randy,

I only have eyeball measurements, but I am having to rehome both elegances because their growth rate skyrocketed after starting moonshiners. Other corals did as well, but these were standouts.

Previously I was dosing AFR daily to maintain alk levels, so this noticable change, to me, was moonshiners. I will be rather sad if switching to Triton now I notice negatives, but I don't think I will.

If it works, which I am betting it does (I've just signed up). I am managing 8 dosing heads and still manually adding elements with moonshiniers.

Dosing heads get out of control that’s for sure. That’s why I was exited for this option as I work away a lot so manual dosing was out for me.

Yep. I have 8 dosing heads now, and I'm looking forward to decomissioning half of them. Maybe 3, I might also need to dose sodium nitrate not to bottom out due to the ATS.

I have 9 going it’s still out of control. I was hoping to shut down two of them once I started my calcium reactor. but I’m Ph greedy running just a splash of NAF.

There is no supposed to, it does. There are several members here and elsewhere that have successful mixed or SPS dominated reefs. Some use it and supplement with Kalkwasser to either allow All For Reef to product to last longer per container or if they are running higher alkalinity or have high demand.
