Hello All,
I tried to find a thread, but I could not find any on this topic (could be user error).
There seems to be a product called "Mater your Trace elements subscription"
In theory, it looks pretty similar to Moonshiners.
Triton is offering a subscription service where they not only provide you with the ICP tests, but also send you the elements.
It also seems that there is a single-bottle solution that can be dosed instead of 15 different bottles, all in various quantities.
I am pretty sceptical, but this could be a game-changer if this is true.
Looking for others to chime in with thoughts, as well as to get a reef chemist's input to confirm if this is too good to be true.

Lots of folks keep nice tanks with single bottle trace elements.

But if matching a numerical target of many different trace elements is your goal, a single bottle is not going to do the trick in general. A new and different single bottle that is different for every tank and is made up after each test might work.

Seens needlessly complicated to me. The evidence that exact values are needed is just not there for many trace elements.

It something new from Triton Labs its like a subscription were they send you an ICP test you send it back and they do the mixture for your tank on a monthly basis everything in one bottle.

Similar to what Captiv8 is doing but they put they include everything. Not sure this is a game changer but looks very convenient. Insead of have to send ICP results to Captiv8 and purchase seperate chemicals and mix your self.

Ok, that’s sensible, whether it is necessary or not.

Distinct from existing programs - most similar is the captiv8 system except we have our own ICP machine. You send in an ICP, we take your results and mix a custom cocktail for you based on those results. We then send you the bottle which last 1 month along with dosing instructions and another ICP test. Rinse and repeat. In addition to us mixing the cocktail for you you also get faster ICP results with priority postage and testing - about 2-3 day turnaround compared to competitors.

Many companies promote using single bottles for dosing. Triton has had an online calculator for many years on their site to make a cocktail based on your results. Thus this premise chemically has existed and works. This subscription puts the work on us and makes it more convenient for you and provides you with monthly ICP testing. If you are interested in signing up please contact [email protected] I believe there are only a few spots left in our initial 140 beta program batch.

Thanks for sharing this - it's a compelling evolution of the ICP testing model, and the subscription approach makes a lot of sense from both convenience and business perspectives. The automated prompting when tests arrive combined with simplified dosing should appeal to many reefers who've been intimidated by multi-bottle trace element systems.

A few thoughts and questions:

1. Dosing precision and waste reduction

I use a repeat delivery service for dog food and really appreciate the flexibility it offers - I can adjust either bag size OR delivery frequency to dial things in so bags run out right as new ones arrive. It took some tweaking, but now there's minimal waste.

For this program, I'm wondering if similar flexibility might be possible. For a 75-gallon tank, could users either select package sizes in smaller increments (maybe 10-25 gallon bands?) or adjust delivery frequency? For example, someone might find the 100-gallon formulation lasts 40 days instead of 30. Being able to fine-tune consumption rates would align nicely with the precision approach of custom ICP-based dosing - you're dialing in the chemistry perfectly, so it'd be great to also eliminate waste on the volume side.

2. Chemical compatibility in single-bottle solutions

I'm curious about the chemistry of combining all these elements in one concentrated bottle. Companies like Tropic Marin sell trace elements in separate containers specifically to prevent precipitation or undesirable reactions. Similarly, methods like the Moonshiners approach use multiple bottles rather than consolidating everything into a higher-volume, easier-to-dose solution.

I know all-in-one products like All for Reef exist, so clearly the chemistry is solvable - but if combining these elements is straightforward, why haven't other DIY trace element methods promoted this approach? It seems like the single biggest convenience advantage of your system, essentially creating "All for Reef made specifically for your tank." What's the secret sauce that makes this work in one bottle at the concentrations you're using?

3. Integration with other dosing regimens

Does this system handle only trace elements, with users managing their own calcium/alkalinity dosing separately? And does the custom formulation include magnesium corrections, or is that also handled independently?

Thanks so much!

I use Triton, not this yet and love the idea. I have been looking into this too and and try to add some insight.

1. The amount of solution you get is specific for your tank so I don't think it's like Farmers Dog (or whomever you use, I had that same issue with 3 dogs). I would guess if the said solution in 1000ml you will be dosing close to 33ml daily.

2. You still have to dose your typical mag/ca/alk those are the ones you cannot mix without problems.

3. This goes along wiht the Triton Core method. I would guess you could use it with anohter program but that would kind of defeat the purpose. I think most 3 part/2part are very simmilar though but if your paying for this might as well count on there porcess.

I haven't puled the trigger yet really becasue of the additional costs but as the tank gows out that is changing. Seems like a logical insurance policy!
