So which is better and why? I'm looking for the best bang for your buck skimmer under $200 (the further under the better...on a tight budget). I know of a used Tunze 9010 that I can get for under $200 and I've seen a used Reef Octopus NW 150 for around $160.

The Octopus NW 150 is crap. I have never seen the Tunze 9010 first hand so I can't say but they are not too popular in the skimmer market. I would look into the cheap sump saver skimmer offered by Luke at Reef Filtration.

The tunze 9010 would be better in that price range. Another to look at is the vertex in100, the Nac 6 and well you will have to let me know what your tank volume is.

the tunze skimmers are nice for tight spots. But if not needed I would look at a different design. They still work well. Just hard to justify the cost new.
