Solar wrasses are my favorite.

Ya, I always thought they were cool but now I love them after picking up this dude!
Do you think two would get along okay in my 60?
I need to add some more blue colored fish I think.

New camera arrived, open to some critiques please. Also looking for cheap photo editor for MacBook Pro, something so that I can make borders and signatures and stuff.
Shot taken with actinics only. Can't remember any other settings, sorry.

Update 9/24 LOTS

Lots of updates mostly because its been a while.
Lets see............got a pair of B+ from Doni's!

Bought a new camera I haven't learn to use yet. But can already see the huge potential with in it!

Its worse, not happy. Manually trim every other day, embarrassed of pics but its a work in progress.
Going aggressive with the algae this week. Planning on raising mag. gently to get'er done.

Supervisor is happy!

Did some good old "Motown Engineering" and made an acrylic(supported with a tiny piece of electrical tape, ssshhh)fan rack to hold a CorVue something somthing over the fug water. Works amazing!!
And what I am most happy about is "Motown Recycled Engineering" blah, anyway I ditched the big ugly dark filter box I had and reused an old overflow box. I took the part that would normally hang on the outside of the tank, glued one hole shut and you get the rest. No different than what I had just smaller, more managable, and allows more light for more chaeto!

Its hard to get people to pay attention to your builds around here unless you have a $800 dollar skimmer and $2000 tied up in chalice frags the size of a penny.

60 cubes rock dont they? Im having some problems figuring out my flow, but I think the addition of a mp10 on the back wall should help out a ton and achieve what I am looking for!

As for the light fixture. I absolutely love it. It is my second one. I had the 48" version before. Great construction and quality, looks nice enough, great clean looking hanging kit, and if you order it from DIYREEF.com you'll get it the very next day with out up charge for shipping. Deb rocks and has the best packaging there is around.
Only issues I have is it has just one fan, but can easily be upgraded to two. Which I am doing in the very near future. I actually already ordered the fan but got the wrong size so its now a fug fan.
Also wish they had lunar lights. But that problem was solved when I got the MLC for the RKL. Love it!!! Dimable and everything.
As for the DJ switch. I installed it with some good old "motown engenieering"

Love your tank ReeferRob! I have a quick question about the screen on the top of your tank, did you spray paint the aluminum? If so, what paint did you use, I do not want to toxify my tank. Thanx.

Long tanks seem to be easier to get flow then these short cubes. I am sure a cube with a wider dimension would be even easier then anything......I do still have some dead spots behind the rocks in back corners on one side next to the overflow.... I don't have sand 100% of my bottom of the tank. I have sand on 50% separated by a pane of glass and where the rock is I used egg create for the rock to sit on. This way I can suck up and detritus or gunk that falls on the bottom and don't get trapped under rock and sand.


Your new shopping spree looks like a heck of a list of corals Rob....Can't wait for pics....

I see the algea is starting to go away, I just ordered Phos-zorb from Fosters and Smith they have a 3 pack big bag for sale right now for $13. I paid that local for one bag.

Thanks Joe! I didn't actually paint it its just the dark brown that the aluminum screen frames come in. I went to three places and no black? Can't really tell its brown once its on!

I just realized and I don't know why but I had the throttle on the mp20 only about 3/4 open! This thing pounds! Even so I think I am going to add a mp10 on the back wall for more cross swirl.
I'll know for sure once I add my frogspawn and bubble!

Thanks for the feedback, I swore your screen frame was black. I have an MP-10 in my 34 gallon (cube 20x20x20) Solana. I am afraid to run it full open, it blows very hard. I think you will be very happy with it.

I can't turn mine up more then 50% without ripping ricordea off rocks and my elegance. But with the return and the MP20 I get quite a bit of flow. But would like to get a small powerhead in the back corner. I bet once you get the Frogspawn and Bubble you will probably find that it will be to much flow for them at least.....They really do push a lot of water....

Stopped by my favorite LFS today Sea Shells Warren Michigan.
Hands down the coolest shop owner around, and one of the cleanest shops there is. Great selection, variety and health of all beings. They even have a little kiddie corner for the children to go play, while pops looks around.!
Anyway I was just stopping by to give her a frag of the Lunar Eclipse and pick up some carbon.

Problem is I ended up coming home with a little more than planned......again.

Yea I'd say you got a problem.....Your going to have it full in no time. You will get to a point where you will get picky about what you want in it though. That is the one issue with mid-size tanks.

Hey Rob. Finally getting a spare second to come and cruise by and catchup on the thread...and boy have I missed a lot. The last time I checked you were just adding rock and water :nerd:.

You tank is REALLY coming along and all of the new additions look great. Is you plan to mainly stick with LPS, Z's and P's or are you eventually going to dive into SPS as well?

It looks like some of your algae issues are starting to subside compared to the pictures of the rock from a couple pages ago. Have you just been upping the Mg or has it slowly subsided on it's own. If I remember right, you started with all dry rock from Marco so I would have assumed you wouldn't have had to worry about Bryopsis and other nuisance algae.

The pictures are a lot better with the new camera...just looks like you may need to tweak the white balance and you'll be right in there with some nice pics.

I look forward to seeing how all of the new additions fill in. Oh yeah, and just because we're not posting, doesn't mean we're not following :matrix:...at least for me.
