Update on rare basslet acquisition

Been talking with my fish supplier and it seems like I might be able to FINALLY acquire a Bicolored Basslet (Lipogramma klayi), a Banded Basslet (Lipogramma barrettorum), and a Threadnose Basslet (Choranthias tenuis)

Congrats on being able to obtain those three fish! Those are going to make great additions to your tank. Have to share with us photos of those fish once you get them!

Ive only seen Klayi once in person and they’re stunning. Definitely get photos if you obtain them!!

Cool - Dynasty Marine had those on their stocklist last month, I imagine they are the same fish.

They get them by mini-sub in Curacao. Allan Marshall of the Florida Aquarium filmed a segment on a collecting dive with them. It was episode 2 of "Fish Tank Kings". I couldn't find it streaming anywhere though. He did intimate that although it wasn't clearly shown in the video segment, they do use Quinaldine to collect these fish.

They get them by mini-sub in Curacao. Allan Marshall of the Florida Aquarium filmed a segment on a collecting dive with them. It was episode 2 of "Fish Tank Kings". I found that site also, but the episode they are showing isn't season 1 episode 2.

I spent some time just now and could not find that episode streaming anywhere. I even tried to get ahold of Allan (I've known him for many years) but he got a new job in January, and I don't have his new email.

After leaving Ben in charge of the warehouse, Mat takes off to the Caribbean island of Curacao with Allan to locate some deep sea fish for the new exhibit. The first dive proves unsuccessful and gets cut short due to a fierce storm. It’s crunch time with the guys in the warehouse stretched to the limit and Mat attempting to get Allan some exquisite creatures to showcase.

Was going to ask if you knew of any other rare basslets being sold by other companies? Btw absolutely was a pleasure to read your thread on basslets.

Yes - that is one out of 3 or 4 short segments. IIRC; the first segment was with Allan at the Florida Aquarium looking at the exhibit they are going to renovate. There is also a final clip showing some of the fish on exhibit.

You can clearly see the tube pumping the drugs to slow the fish down, but notice how they sort of talk around that point? I'm pretty sure they are using quinaldine, because it is slightly cloudy. MS-222 would be clearer.
