upgrading from my 90g to a 215 the end of this month or beginning of february. need some suggestions on the set up and equipment. here is the equipment that will be transferred from my 90g:
lights- 3x250 halides(2 hqi, 1 SE) phoenix bulbs, 2 lumatek ballasts, 1 hqi ballast, 2x160w vho
skimmer- alpha cone 250
other equipment- mrc dual chamber calcium reactor, midwest aquatics sulfur denitrator(large), mr1 phosban reactor, ph controller, orp controller, 200mg/hr ozone generator
flow- 2x mp40w, 1 tunze 6065, 1 modded tunze 6025(waiting on a pm for two more), mag 12 return, modded koralia 4, modded koralia 3, 2 koralia nanos

now for the questions.
1. barebottom or not? with all the flow i think bb might be the way to go but i still want to keep wrasses and such that might not be as happy with bb. plus sand looks more natural to me, but the benefits of lower nitrates sounds good, too.

2. should i add 4x 36in t5s to the lighting? i have an icecap 660 on the way just in case. thought i could add some better color to the 454 actinics i have. maybe a couple of the reddish or pink bulbs and some actinic +

3. can i use the tunzes on a wavemaker without problem?

4. setting up the flow. i was thinking of ditching the koralias and maybe getting another mp40w or two. then i could have the 4 mp40w's in front of the rockwork on the sides of the tank with two up top and two a little lower, staggered slightly. then i could use the 4 tunzes for behind the rockwork and have them configured about the same, but have the top ones angled downward and the bottom ones angled upwards. then with the timer i could have the top left and bottom right come on, then alternate to the top right and bottom left. and would the approx. 20,000gph of flow be enough? im running almost 12,000gph right now, and just added the 6065 and modded 6025 to my 90g.
thoughts on this?

i think thats about it for now, will post more when i think of them. all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I'd bet that 4 vortech's in a 215 would be enough. My friend just put 5 in his 300 and says if he turns them all on full blast that he'll have a sand storm. I would say:
get the biggest sump u can
get rid of the mag 12 return pump and get a dart
3 x 250's should be enough light. 2 vho's will be actinic. doubt you'll need anything more.

hope that helps.

I can't convey the level of agreement :)

In my 240 I am running 2 x 6125 and 2 x mp40w

so 4 x mp40w sounds like a great plan to me. I have had trouble in the past with my korallia p4's but have not bought a new one so I don't know if the issues have been resolved.
