Hi everyone,

My varios 4s skimmer pump will not ramp up past 50%. If I crank it up past 50%. It shuts down, starts up and shuts down again. Repeating this behavior over and over. I thought the impeller was dirty or clogged. The pump and impeller have been cleaned throughly a bunch of times. Soaked in vinegar and still will not ramp past 50%. I bought a new controller thinking that was the issue. Same thing. I even warrantied the new controller through CoralVue and the new replacement controller does the same. So, is it safe to say my 8 year old Varios 4s pump and seen better days?
3 controllers all doing the same thing and pump impeller is clean and free of any debris and anything that will prevent it from running. Thanks!

THAT might be an issue, but doesnt really explain why it wont go past 50%

Have you tried using another power supply? It sounds like its old and tired and cant deliver the power it needs past 50% thus self protection kicked in.

Good point! Unfortunatley, I don't have an extra 4.0A Ac/DC adapter. I do have a 5A but I think that would be to strong.

You will be fine. It means your power supply CAN supply up to 5A, doesnt mean it will force 5A to your pump

Think your sockets. Typical American 120V socket can supply 1500W of power, but things you plug into it usually require way less, you dont see them blowing up as soon as you plug a 100W lightbulb in.
