So I got some new stuff in the mail from BRS! I got some reef glue, a Phosphate kit, Vibrant and a Continuum scraper blade. Finally my glass looks clean lol! I was using a new scratcher kitchen scrubber sponge and it helped a bit but this was amazing! I did go ahead and test my water and see why I could have the GHA and no luck. Results were as follows.

S.G.-1.026
PH-8.4
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
Calcium-425
Alk-8.9
Pho’s-0

I let the hair algae grow for about a week once. I knew I’d be purchasing Vibrant and wanted to get it long enough I could pull a bunch off and go from there. So basically I cleaned the glass. Angered some corals in the process, picked off all the GHA and tried to scrub what was left with a toothbrush to no avail.

I was going to go ahead and add the vibrant now, but I think I’ll do the water change tonight and add the vibrant directly after it’s done. It just depends on how quickly the water heats up. It’s room temp so only needs to get to 80, but I’m anxious to head to bed soon. I am attaching a picture of my tank before maintenance. Like I said I let it go for a week. The picture looks blurry but it’s just because of how yucky the glass is. I ended up actually scrubbing off green gunk from my glass.

I just want to document how well it works for me and tell you what happened with my tank. Theres a bunch of horror stories so I’ll be adding mine with pictures in case anyone wants to follow this horrible case of GHA. If anyone has any good maintenance tips and tricks I’ll gladly hear them. Hope everyone had a good holiday!

Lauren

P.s. was looking at old pictures of my tank (it’s only 3 months old) and it blows my mind how much it’s grown already! I’ll add in a picture (with the rock when it was white and slight Cyanobacteria ) so you can see how big everything was when I originally purchased it (10/18/19) to current pictures.
