My vote for favorite is the Reef Octopus Pulse. I bought 2 of the pulse 4's and they were just too much on my Red Sea 425. I replaced them with the Pulse 2. LIke others have said, you can angle the pump and they're powerful.

Love my gyre's but not cleaning soooo often. The 330's have not needed to be cleaned, but my 350's lose power after one week. I keep turning up the setting from start at 30% to about 80% before having to clean.

I run 2 maxspect gyre 280 good flow after cleaning but need very frequent cleaning to much for my liking
And have 2 MP 40 and 2 MP 60 who works good
Tunze turnbelle stream 3 verry well built but would love to have more power on it
Also 2 neptune wave who is ok

I use to 3K pumps, and I still need another thousand or 2,000 gallons per hour to each one or add two more of them. I have to create laminar water flow , because of the corals I have. Bummer

What are the corals in that shot?

On my main reef I have 4 Rossmont MX4100s with 2 wavers plus a tunze wave box. I could not be happier! Rossmont is highly underrated.

I used 2 Jebao PP-8's in my 75g for few years now and never had a problem with them with great flow but I've recently swapped them out for the SLW-20's. Love the SLW's low profile and wide flow. The only difference is I have to crank these up to 100% to get enough flow to the center of the tank where the PP-8's didn't need to go that high.

1. What pumps or powerheads are you using to provide water flow in your aquarium and are you happy with them?

2 VorTech MP40s, yes

2. If you could choose any powerhead or pump on the market what would you choose?

The ones I already have.

I've got Tunze running my 300DD.

2 x 6105
1 x 6150 (stream 3)

Easy enough to program, get plenty of water flow, and the stream 3 came with a 5 year warranty. Hard to beat that.

2 mp10's
2 jebao pp8's
1 maxspect gyre

Completely happy with them and the flow in my tank.

Didn't know how the jebaos would do, but they've been running strong for 2 years now.

I just kicked out the Tune 6040 from my nano tank. First of all I was never really happy with the narrow stream coming from it.

Secondly after less than 2 years the outer cable just torn open

IMG_1080.jpg

That is likely a warranty issue, bad plastic cable issue a manufactures defect known to Tunze. I had the same thing last year, Tunze sent me a new unit

A pair of Nero 5s . I am in the somewhat disappointed category.
- Amazing flow, quiet, app is mostly okay (likes to crash)
- Magnets kind of suck (fixed by AI in latest revisions)
- Snails get stuck in them easy, need to buy or make a guard (fish too apparently, though mine have never)
- Cant go below 900 gph so random is harder to achieve in a smaller tank
- No DC battery backup support without risking blowing it up (Till AI says 27-28v through the 24v port is fine no love). More and more this is becoming an important thing.

I have done Gyres, Jebao (good pumps crappy controller), Nero 5s, maybe Octo or Vortechs next. Powerheads are my crack
I have a snail guard and no problems there, anymore. What tics me, is that it won’t come out of feed mode and I have to do a soft reset every time. This is the second unit I am on, having returned the first one, fo the same issue.

I've got one of the Jabeo crossflow wave pumps. I really like the pump itself, and alone it does enough for my 90 gal, and can actually overpower the tank at full power. I usually run it about half speed.

But the controller is junk. It randomly likes to switch between settings, and the light detector that is supposed to slow it down at night can't be turned off and is terribly confused by being inside the stand.

2 maxspect gyre 330 on a 105 reef,. Besides the weak magnets I am extremely pleased, sold two mp40s to get these and I'm very happy, the wide flow is not achievable with the vortechs

Rossmont pumps are extremely underrated. Especially for the cost of a replacement pump being so low. Really high quality imo.
