Depending if you buy used or new and where you buy them from the prices will vary tremendously.
If you are just starting out there is no need to go all in and spend more on wave makers right now buy the cheaper power heads or circulation pumps.
If you are like me and have to have the best of the best I would choose 2 Vortech Mp40's
Is it over kill? probably, but I'm a little picky on what I want, I like the idea of having more power than I need at my finger tips.
The good things about these pumps are that you can adjust the flow with one touch, they have multiple flow options/patterns and you will have more room in your tank since only half of the pump actually sits in the tank.
On a side note I really like Marineland's Maxijets and Cobalt Aquatics pumps. They do not break the bank and they have VERY GOOD flow!
I have multiple tanks and I currently have Hydor, Cobaly, Maxi-jets and Mp 40's.
The other pumps Ive never owned but have read and watched videos about them on Youtube.
You cannot go wrong with any of the pumps on the list, again its all about how much you want to spend and your preference.
If you have not yet watch Bulk Reef Supply's video on Flow in the tank you should watch it.
....just realized this took me an hour to write up and post, lol
Thank you for your time so helpful
