Very clean. Good looking tank. Do you know the par number near the left and right edge of your aquascape? My up coming tank is 60x30x21. I'm thinking, use the same light setup 4t5 with xr15. thanks

No I don't I have never used a par meter, hope to rent one someday so I can really tell what kind of par spots are at.

Still chugging along here, decided to make the jump to a calcium reactor after some research. Little bit of a learning curve with figuring out how everything works, but YouTube and reef2reef took a look of the guesswork out of it.

Took the opportunity to upgrade my apex Jr to a full apex to run the Calc reactor, so far everything transfered over great and I took the opportunity to program a few things that I had been putting off.

Tank is really starting to come into it's own since adding the calcium reactor, levels are about as stable as I could ask for and I'm starting to see a huge jump in growth on all the sps in the tank, excited to see what the future holds with this level of stability.

Getting the itch to load up here soon, I'm giving the tank another month on the calcium reactor and I'm going to start filling her up.

I'm trying my best to get the majority of my frags into the tank in big chunks to avoid the risk of pests by adding one frag at a time, the goal is to get another 20-30 frags into QT all at once and then add them all in at once.

Ran into an issue with my Gyre 350's, something is wrong with my controller I believe and it is causing pumps to turn off randomly and then not kick back on, I threw a tunze 6095 into the tank to help, they are such solid pumps I'm really considering putting both of the ones I have in permanently to help with a few dead spots in the tank, it's a whirlpool in there!

The tank is 5 months old as of today and I feel like it's in a really good spot for growth considering how young the tank is. Working on coloration, but that will come with time.

Enjoy some pictures!

Please let us know how you like the Orphek bars. I can’t decide if I want to use those or t5’s for my supplemental light.

30-40 SPS frags in a 6 month old tank of dead rock... clearly not your first rodeo.

That is not typically a recipe for success. Did you have a sump full of old live rock or something? Or old MarinePure block? Help a buddy out here please... what have you done to create a sufficiently mature biome in that short time frame?

I have about 10 Liters of 3+ year old 25mm siporax, it's been through several tanks and I have kept it wet the whole time, I attribute the fast cycle and stable tank to that, a good skimmer, and a large fuge.

Decided to go with my own custom frame to mount the new lights on, I don't like the idea of having a bunch of wires hanging from the ceiling so I opted to make my own out of 80/20 aluminum.

I think it will look really clean and minimalist.

Here is my amazing design drawn in CAD, ms paint version.

It's also frustrating staring at these new lights and wanting nothing more than to hang them over the tank, but I have to try and be patient and wait, unfortunately it looks about 2 weeks shipping time on all my 80/20 parts, this is going to be a long few weeks =(.

Looks great, I can’t wait to see how this tank grows in time.

Good choice on the orphek lights, I have an atlantik v4 on my 40b and I absolutely love it.

New lights are up, I built the frame for the fixture out of 80/20 and some diy hardware I made so everything can slide in and out. Very light weight and very strong.

Excited to see what I can do with these lights, will be taking some par measurements today and try and find that sweet spot of 250-300 par across the whole tank.

Thought I'd share some par numbers I took today. Tank is 48x30x24, completely SPS dominant tank.

Lights are mounted 16 inches off the water

Two orphek compacts v2
Two orphek or2 blue bars.

channel 80%
100% channel 2 and 3
25% channel 4

I think I hit my goal of following bulk reefs supply's 200-300 par throughout the majority of the area where SPS is. I'm debated bringing the lights down slightly, or in the future adding a 3rd compact as recommended by brs for this size tank. I feel like my numbers are about right where the brs spotlight video had them.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated, cheers!
