I have more vermetids snails in my tank than I would like. Thanks are the small (smaller than a bb) variety. I no longer keep shrimp because I am tired of them stealing food from my corals so wrasse are an option. I also no longer have hermit crabs and would rather not add them back into my system but would if they are my best bet to control the vermrtids. Any suggestions? Tank is a mixed reef 75 gallon.

I have first hand evidence that yellow boxfish will eat vermetids... however, having one of those imo is probably worse than the vermetids!! Mine has been moved on... lol.

No one else knows of a crab or fish that will eat them? I would bet a Trigger would but that would be counter productive I am sure.

I have heard that six line wrasses will eat them.

+1 on simply feeding less. If you can't feed less, try cleaner feeding habits (i.e. rinsing frozen food, feeding pellets, spot feeding vs broadcast). @aKlevans, I know mine wiped out my spirorbis population, but wouldn't touch the vermetids :(

It’s been four years since anyone has posted and I am wondering if anyone since has had any luck with getting rid of them as they are covering all my rock.

I quit. I completely broke down my 125g because of the vermitted snails were absolutely everywhere. Braking thru my coral and those stupid webs covering everything. Done.

My tank is like this too

Covered the rock and the corals are spikey

I’m just going to let it go but I hate it

Than’s recommendation is to use a glove and rub down the rocks during water changes to give the bumblebees a chance to work

My biggest concern is that they’re going to ruin the plumbing and I’ll have to replumb the tank

I used to say bristleworms are tank herpes but bristleworms can be nuked with fenbendazole

I feel like DIY coral snow (calcium carbonate) helped.
Could've been coincidence but mine seemed to stop reproducing around the same time I started dosing calcium carbonate solution for cyano issue.
*I only had the small ones and not a ton but I never see any new ones since then

Before that I was just crushing any I could get to, periodically.

My tank was full of them. I manually removed where I could and added Bumble Bee snails. I did 20 snails in my 180 gallon. I no longer have them. I also have a Six Line but don't know if it did anything I do know the snails did.

My overflow pipes were completely covered in them on the inside in less than a year

I can only imagine what the rest of the pipes look like further downstream
