What is this on my Duncan?

I thought it was a new head but I don't know.

Can't help with ID but new heads always grow from under the existing heads but from the fleshy area. At least on the colonies I have that has been how they grow. I have never had a new head grow from the skeleton.

I thought it was a new head but I don't know.

Its a poriferan sponge known as clatharina sponge and will continue to spread upwards. Best removal is to place frag in a container of tank water and remove with a dental pick or small crochet needle and discard.
