Nice boat, good luck with survey. I have an older 18' Monterey bowrider. We stick to eastern PA lakes. A weekend just doesn't feel right if I don't get on the water in season

I'm a little boat person. Just recently sold by O'Day Swift sailboat. This boat taught you how to sail. If you weren't right with the sails, it threw you in the water. A fun boat to sail.

So the wife and I have taken to flat water kayaking and now have these two beauties....currently drydocked:

I can assure you, they do float:

And any of you interested in a free sailboat (maritime rule assumed), here's a beauty out at the tip of Sandy Hook (assuming from when Sandy blew through). Only needs a little work!

Man... I had one, 21ft. 2 sayings that are true:
-BOAT stands for Bust Out Another Thousand
-The 2 best days are the day you buy and the day you sell.

I'll say that... requires about as much maintenance as a reef tank.

Make sure you find a good mechanic
The boat I sailed on was a 46 ft Beneteau that him and his wife part time cruised and when not cruising it was guys week (or two) taking to some place to avoid the hurricanes, some years it was to Solomons MD from Ft Lauderdale, once via Bermuda and for a couple years it was from Antigua to Grenada. Before the last trip from Florida to the Caribbean he spent a lot money on a new engine, electronic, winches, autopilot, and lines. When his wife asked how he spent on his last trip to West Marine he would say, "it was not much Honey, just 1 and half maybe 2 boat units." How much is a boat unit, best not ask. :p

A boat seems cool sometimes but then I remember all of those weekends my family dragged me against my will onto the sailboat. Or waking up early for sailing school. Bleh.

I knew a couple of people who rowed for crew in college...I was like...why? It was bad enough having to get up for 8 am biology class.

Sorry to crash your thread, but I'm needing some help. Can y'all suggest a good telescoping or collapsible saltwater rod/reel. Not expensive, but quality.

Okay that one actually seemed cool. It probably helps to be from a part of the country where rowing crew isn't popular. The Social Network movie sold me on those people being cool lol.

My 1999, Proline 240 sport open fisherman. Had it since 2001, re-powered in 2015. Here I am collecting 84 gallons of salt water near the gulf stream after some offshore fishing.

My other boat. This is my 1974 Sunfish, I’ve had it since early 90’s. So many great times with family and friends. I love my motor boat, but this One I can’t ever get rid of!

I remember seeing a facebook post (when I was on facebook) from a guy up in Nova Scotia that posted a pic of a NJ registered boat that drifted up there from Point Pleasant after Sandy. It appeared to survive the trip pretty well considering and was looking to notify the owner that he found it.
My guess is the guy would rather collect the insurance money and get a new one.

Id like to get a pontoon boat to do some light island/sandbar partying, but the "bust out another thousand" saying keeps sticking in my head. Im just not a fresh water person. Saltwater fish just taste better. And fight better for the most part. (I know, I know....all you Michiganders and Wisconsinites are going to chime in about sturgeon....)

Very nice boat. I am into sailing and no longer have a boat, I have been on the Other People's Boat plan for several years. I do love sailing in the Chesapeake. Have sailed to or from Solomons several times.

Our family has a long line of Navy it in and my Uncle's had boats. One more related to cruising and fishing in the San Fran bay and the other a 40 some odd foot sail boat. He would take us out around the Farallon Islands outside of San Francisco. Beautiful. Our plan was to sail it to Hawaii and back but I blew those plans out of the water when I joined the Air Force :) I was supposed to delay a year while my brother separated from the Navy then we sail. Uncle Sam said no - you must start boot camp sooner :D

Anyway I do not know how to sail but used to love going. I'd still love to make the trip to Hawaii one day.

I live in a waterfront town that overlooks Raritan bay (Atlantic Ocean). When Sandy hit we lost (flooded) somewhere in the area of 300 homes. We also have our fair share of marinas typically next to salt marshes. When I could venture out, driving down the shore highways, you'd see boats a half mile out in the middle of a salt marsh.....loads of them. I just always wondered how they got them out.
