loved the waterbed look but didn’t want to spend the extra money. here’s the new stand! on the inside i have shelf’s for my homemade water change system.

managed to move the tank, originally placed on my kitchen island, to the stand in 15min. no fish or crustacean’s were harmed during the move! tank is about a month old. This also gave me a chance to redo the scape without water

the stand is not perfect, but i’m proud of myself for not cutting a finger off with a circular saw.

Do you have any photos of the stand being built?

Nice job!

Your stand is not built similarly to the video based on that photo, though. From what I can see, the base and middle section braces are fine for providing stability. However, in most cases you will have the top "ring" of 2x4s rest on top of the vertical boards. This is what provides the bulk the load bearing strength of the stand. Attaching it with screws leaves all the weight bearing on the screws. This is the case with all the "rings" all the way down. Luckily your tank is relatively small, rimmed, and you're not resting the tank on the edge of the boards on top. So there aren't any concerns with the integrity of the frame. As your stand sits right now, you're loading all the weight on those vertical 2x4s; which is not a problem because your tank is a couple hundred lbs at most.

Your stand also prevents racking with plywood on the sides and helps spread the relatively (relative to the load bearing capacity of 4 2x4s in compression) small load across the platform. I would be much more concerned, as would others be too, if this were a 400-gallon tank resting on the weight of about 12 screws.

Overall, this is a solid 8/10 execution but a 10/10 for your effort. When you upgrade your tank, just be careful when building your next stand! :)

tank will be filled with anenomes here pretty soon. and i’m sure i’ll change the scape again (not the biggest fan of this one) I think it looks too predictable and human set up
Haha I get whatchu mean by "human" design :P
Always evolving right?
