Thank you, all of you have helped me a lot. I am appreciative. The hospital tank is a 10-gallon aquarium with an air tube. That will not suffice for holding fish long-term. I should have thought about the cross-reaction. Was too anxious to try to keep him alive. After this experience, I see the huge value in having a smaller tank with a filter and everything else that can serve as a hospital or quarantine tank. I will need another tank to manage the other fish. I have the old empty 65-gallon Oceanview aquarium. I may have to set it back up and use that tank for 60 days.

Have had fish in 10 gallon petco tank for longer periods no problem. They work well.

10 gallon

Fluval AC50 HOB and only use the bio sponge. No media or anything else.

Small in tank UV filters are super nice to keep water clean. Get a version that allows turn off for when meds are used along side copper (the seachem plex meds) also this allows for extra aeration and no need for bubblers.

I do WC every day for a week until tank bacteria establishes. After that depending on tank load every two, three days.

Have yet to lose fish if internal parasites are not of an issue. Least amount of fish the better.

I’m currently running an up scaled thank. The end of this week is the last day of copper. And have not lost any fish. Two big UV filters with bio sponges in them, and one big Fluval AC110 filter. No issues. Fish are bickering but given have many got passed ich and flukes in this tank I’ll take that win any day. No losses. Now the velvet out break I had at the beginning of the year is a whole new story. Saved half my fish during that nightmare.

Sucky part, is the amount of time and effort you need to put in. To me personally to have healthy non disease infested tank makes it worth it. What I would change is to QT each fish one at a time and don’t rush to purchase a bunch of fish. Rookie move on my end big time! Then again I was getting away with disease less fish like you wouldn’t think. All it takes it one to make it a nightmare sadly.

QT everything and it’s mum I say!
