Will GSP grow down columns?

I've got columns in my tank, and I read somewhere that GSP grows towards the light, so I'm considering adding some GSP towards the top of my columns thinking it will grow up but not down. Another thought I had was supergluing some rubble around the columns to serve as a barrier, and just pop off and replace the rubble as the GSP grows onto it.

It grows wherever the light touches. Youre better off with the barrier method

It even grows across sandbed! It really is a nice coral, just isolate it

If it doesn't have a direction to go it just starts "reaching" for something solid lol
