Yeah, it is graphed like the other stats and it does include the ReefBrites (those are the low low readings at the beginning and end of the cycle).

It's crazy that all the measurements seem to be related to the lighting schedule.

First is the lighting graph for the last few days:

Then an overlay of pH vs. PAR:

Salinity vs. PAR:

And Temperature vs. PAR (per this graph I'm wondering if I left the basement door open this AM):

Finally pH vs. PAR:

I have been seeing a lot of brown stringy stuff growing. I'm hoping it is some byproduct of new tank syndrome, but I wanted to get some opinions on what it could be so I can proactively start getting it out. It is very easy to clean off the glass, but the rock work is a different story. Just a few stats:

Alk 8.2
Cal 440
Mag 1390
Nitrate 0
Phosphate 0

I do feed a lot since I have anthias. I maintain zero no/pro dosing NOPOX. I have been dosing 1ml/10g of hydrogen peroxide to try to fight it for over a week.

I'll post up some pics here in a bit once the daylight savings come on.

Here are some pictures. Luckily it doesn't seem to grow on the corals, just the rocks and glass:

Switch salts or anything recently? I've heard that can sometimes cause it

Thanks for the reply, no I haven't switched salts recently :(. It is a relatively new tank.

I started researching last night and it looks like a tank black out is the preferred method to combat it. I have already been dosing NOPOX and H2O2.

I'd like to get a positive ID from the pics before I treat the tank.

Since the tank is fairly new and you've added a couple new fish maybe it's just going through some bio-load changes.

Do you have emerald crabs or tuxedo urchins? Do they eat that?

I have a ton of Trochus snails, but they won't touch it. I talked to the LFS today and he recommended water changes and manual removal via toothbrush and siphon. We'll see how that turns out. After cleaning today I will try lights out for three days.

I battled that stuff. The only way i won was through 3 day black out and regular water changes.

I would have to see it under a microscope as I am unable to see the structure clearly from the picture.

Hey folks thanks for all the comments! I just spent about two hours with a toothbrush, mag float, siphon, and scraper going over the sixteen square feet of this tank cleaning this junk out. You have the before pics and here are some after pics showing that I manually removed all of it my back could stand to remove ;)

I'm thinking black out for three days and see how it looks. Hope this nips it in the bud.

And a pic of a no namer Chalice that is starting to look nice and definitely showing good growth in the new tank:

I'm assuming that there should be no feeding the tank while it's blacked out.

Would I continue to dose NOPOX, alk, calcium and H2O2?

If anyone can speak to that I'd like to know. This is my first ever blackout....

I had something similar happen to my tank and didn't know what it was. I came to a conclusion it was bacteria. I used Dr. Tim's Waste Away for reefs and the stuff went away pretty fast. Just make sure to use it the way the directions suggest.

Thanks, Jacob! Don't worry your frags are in an established tank with no issues :)
