Also a lady whose boyfriend side eyes how much money goes into my tank. He likes looking at them but he just doesn't have the heart for it that I do. He will buy me a fish or coral every so often to be nice but he also thinks I spend way too much on my corals... if only he knew my torches prices!

Got started when a male friend decided to sell his set up about 14 years ago.
I'm currently up to 7 tanks up and running
Tell us about your 7 different tanks! I have thought about setting up multiples. What do you have in them and do you have any with really simple filtration?

Online, especially on this forum, I do see plenty of misogyny and sexism. I think men come on here and think its totally fine to talk like that because they assume everyone here is male. It would be nice to see the moderators take more of a stance on it.
I'm very sorry to see this comment. I can assure you that we do our best to make sure this type of behavior doesn't occur. I strongly encourage anyone who sees a comment that isn't appropriate to please report it.
We try to be very careful not to over moderate, so we may have some internal discussions in our "shady back room" before a post is deleted or edited but we do take all of the reports seriously. If you make a report and see nothing has happened, please reach out to a moderator. We should all have our names in red to make us easier to find.

I too grew up in the 50's. Always a major animal lover as was my Mom. I remember my first goldfish when I was 3-also turtles & those little green "chameleon" lizards. We had cats, dogs, bunnies, hamsters, snakes, lizards, turtles, parakeets and even a bat once. I almost always had a fish tank of some kind even in college I had a 10 gallon in my room. After college Besides being a bartender I worked in some pet stores (local not big ones). So in the 80's I had a saltwater tank-a parrot, a cockatiel, finches & a parakeet and an Afghan hound.
I got back into fish about 5-6 years ago with a 15 gal freshwater--now it's been a year since I've upgraded (thru several other tanks) to my current 30g L which I love. Being only 5 ft tall & considered elderly (ugh) it's the perfect size for me. I'm new to corals so I'm learning as fast as I can!

As you can guess from my avatar, seahorses are my first love in reefing. This tank is the latest iteration, set up for about two months now, and a work in progress. I’m letting it mature and go through the “uglies” before I add to the livestock. Always looking for suggestions for non-stingy, non-grabby corals and softies.

Beautiful tanks lady's!!!!!! I am so proud to see all of your tanks and too meet all of you. I know my user name Cancun isn't feminine, but that is my go to dive place since 1986 when my dad took me....I was 11 yrs old. I have been going every year since. I thought it was fitting LOL! Check out these pics from last May when we usually go. The last one is one of my favs....spotted trunk fish....they are cool to watch.

Thanks for doing this Metrokat! When I used to be on the nano forum, I always loved your posts, so much fun and full of life. Btw, I think I'm still on a list for a frag of katropora?
As a male, I never wanted to just hang with the guys, it gets kinda boring after a while, no offense dudes, but I'd rather hang with a diverse group of people, male and female, who enjoy and love to talk about reefing, music and nature. Welcome ladies, your input is equally, if not more important to this great community!
I still want a frag of katropora! :p
Stay safe!

Currently waiting on acrylic mounting brackets to be made for the lights, so I'm at a stand still. Covid19 has affected the build and delayed it.
the 40 gal is getting a bit full.

The diy macroalgae reactor I built. Somewhat followed a build online. The build stated to sand a connector to fit but after sanding for 15 mins I went back to the hardware store and found a lawn sprinkler attachment that fit like a glove. Also used the top of the canister insert as the strainer. Up and running for 4 months and harvest weekly
