Good sunday everyone!

I just recently discovered this on my seam, a few days ago.
Tank is a 7 year old red sea reefer, does it look worrying? It just barely reaches the waterline. Can i leave it and keep an eye on it? Or can i put something to reinforce it?

The second picture alone adds a more worrying aspect. If it popped the child in the pic would have the shock of their lives at best, at worst, I couldn't imagine.

It looks like new tank time for the safety of the household if you ask me.

What are the dimensions of your tank?.., could you buy some dork of tension-strap around it? It won't look great, but maybe it will buy you some time?

You could put a ratchet strap around the top where it’s pulling apart for a little peace of mind while waiting.

Its a 425l tank, dimensions are 120cmx57.5cmx55cm.

Im guessing from all your responses that i should try to work out a new tank quite quickly. I will check for a ratchet strap and visit my LFS next week for options for replacement.

It's probably been like that for the 7 years. You've just gotten paranoid from all the red sea posts....

common issue with red sea...yet people still buy them why???
When I get to this stage I’ll be ordering a water box. I didn’t know they existed when I bought my Red Sea however I do now.

This amount of separation is worrisome. I would personally replace sooner than later!

Because i didnt know of the problems when i bought it 7 years ago :)
Plus at my LFS it was the advertised brand, i didnt see any other saltwater tank brands there

I put a mark on where the separation is currently, i will get a ratchet strap tomorrow and visit my LFS sometimes next week. Also waiting for answer from Red Sea

If you dont have a ratchet strap this morning use rope or twine or even duct tape all the way around the tank without further delay. Anything will help the seam until you get a ratchet strap. The duct tape can be doubled or tripled for about a foot by the failing seam and at least 2-3 wraps all the way around the tank. That will help keep the pressure from pushing on that seam(and others).
