It's really difficult to guess what I would do if money were truly no object. That kind of wealthy is hard for me to understand.

So......while my reflex answer would be a resounding no, I wouldn't guarantee it. After all I spend a lot of money on my other hobbies and they are not as near and dear to me as my reef tank is. If money were not in the equation, I can't say for certain I wouldn't even spend more than that for the right fish (Genicanthus personatus).

I find a lot to compare to the best art possible when explaining to people foreign to salt.

Would you pay 1 million for a painting of a woman holding a rose?

I would gladly pay 6k if $ isn’t a matter to obtain a moving painting that only nature could produce

I find the real question is

Would you ever tell everyone that there’s a fish for 6k swimming in your tank? Or would your hold it as personal info and only to VERY close family and friends?

You could do a week or two of the best diving in the world on a liveaboard dive boat in the Red Sea, Papua New Guinea, Palau, etc for $6000.

That's the thing. You not only need to be wealthy enough to afford it, but also wealthy enough to not be too upset if it dies.

It would be cheaper to take a vacation in the area where you find this fish, charter a boat and dive for it yourself. Even if it wasn't, at least you'd still get a vacation out of it!

All of these answers make sense to me!

And that's a gorgeous fish!

Chin up, you never know how or when good things will come into your life. Oh, and buy a lottery ticket too!

I wouldn’t tell anyone....ever. I would only spend that kind of money on something I dearly loved. In that case, it wouldn’t matter how much I spent. No one needs to know.

There are a couple fish I'd maybe seriously consider at that price point. Can't say that would be one of them.

Curious to know which fish you would consider?

I wouldn’t even tell my husband! He’d kill me!!

So, in other words, you'd lie to your own kids and husband. Makes me question your user name! Lol
