I know that there are pics here, there and everywhere of wrasses. I can't tell what is photoshopped and what is accurate. I don't have an LFS to look at live ones!

I have a Maldives McCoskers Wrasse, Line Spot and Dusky.

I love the Melanurus but concerned about my Randall's Pistol Shrimp and my Peppermint Shrimp. Not as concerned about snails. I also have emerald crabs, not sure if wrasses touch them. Looking for ones that are the most different than what I have and compatible with what I have.

I want to add 2 more wrasses. Reef Safe or hopefully won't eat more than a few snails :-). I would love to see real pics of what you have that might work. Sell me on a couple!

I think the Wrasse Lovers thread will serve you well. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/the-wrasse-lovers-thread.113942/

That said, I am a wrasse lover and have been meaning to take recent pics of my wrasses. I’ll work to get some and post.

My current stock includes five wrasses and is follows:
  1. Blue star leopard wrasse
  2. Black leopard wrasse
  3. Yellowtail tamarin wrasse
  4. Melanurus wrasse
  5. Foxface
  6. Starry blenny
  7. Scopas tang
  8. Yellow band possum wrasse
Leopards and the tamarin are considered expert. From my experience this means an established/mature tank, acclimation, patience, and solid mix of overall stock temperament.

I love leopards, though the yellowtail tamarin was my chase fish. I plan to get a Timor the next time I see one at my LFS.

On a side note, my Melanurus does not pray on cleanup crew and crustaceans as I often read about, but all fish are different.

Lastly, I have a list of future fish once I get a larger tank. All Wrasses, but my help you look into even more beautiful Wrasses

Future fish list:
  1. Fiji leopard wrasse
  2. Ornate leopard wrasse
  3. Redline wrasse
  4. White stripped Pygmy wrasse
  5. Mystery Wrasse
  6. Timor wrasse
Alernates:
  1. Potters leopard wrasse
  2. Feminin Wrasse ($1.5k)

How do I find the recent post with pics?
Use the search feature, ADVANCED search, and look in media, using wrasse or the specific names you are interested in. There are a lot of folks who post images (in media!) that are trying to capture the colors of their fish, not trying to sell something. 😇

Thank you. I've seen a lot of pics on this site that are just beautiful but many times at least I can't find what kind of wrasse it is I am not familiar with them. I am just beginning to learn the different ones.
