Hi all, I have introduced a small yellow tail Midas blenny to my tank. I have two clown fish in the tank and zero aggression from day 1. The blenny is still so stressed, he has two little spots to hide in with his head out. He doesn’t swim around the tank, is not active, and always has his mouth open.

Does he need more cover for a hiding spot? I thought they were supposed to be active swimmers? He hasn’t fed once when iv fed the tank. Iv had the lights off in the tank during the day to try and help as well butt off at night. Water quality is great, tested regular and zero issues with parameters. Clowns are doing great, feeding well and active.

I thought he would have gotten used to the tank by now so I’m a bit stumped what else I could do?

When did you add him? Can take days to week for fish to adjust just depends. As long as he looks okay and no real symptoms he should be fine just give it a couple days even if he doesn’t eat right away

All the above but what do you mean by two "little spots" for hiding? They do like to perch in safe spots and don't continuously swim but swim, dart into caves, perch repeat. May need more rock work to feel safe. Mine has learned my behavior when feeding and comes out for food but likes to perch with mouth open alot. Love this fish. Think about your rock work.

I love my Midas blenny he’s very active and personable. He will sit perched on one of my gyres it’s funny. They will hide to start just let him adjust and he should be fine. Definitely make sure you have enough rock
