I've read though (i believe) every thread on here and on several other fourms. A lot of times old threads never seem to post a happy ending.... or any conclusion at all

I have a 100g tank that's been running well for just over 5months now.

1.026
8.9ph
9.2alk
420ca
1210mg
4ppm N (Hanna low range)
0.05ppm phosphate (Hanna low range)
78F

I've had a few corals for a while and have always planned to have a bta. So, before I got anymore corals I might need to move around I ordered a "black widow" anenome from top shelf.

Received it about 3 weeks ago, it shipped perfectly and I got it in the tank. It stayed on the rock I placed it on for 2.5 weeks, maybe moved 6" to the right one time. It would catch whatever I fed the tank and seemed to me had definetly grown in those two weeks.

Every night when the lights started to dim it would start to Shrink down into the rock it was attached to. Every morning when the lights first started coming on I could see the tips of the bubbles in that spot and within 30min it would be back out, woken up for the day.

5 days ago it disappeared. No hint, no pieces, not in overflow, not in sump. We keep waiting Every day hoping he'll show up somewhere, but I'm starting to lose hope.

I have 2 clowns, purple tang, gamma, a starry bblenny, 5 assorted snails, one blue leg, emerald crab. 2 peppermint and one cleaner shrimp

Does anything on my list seem capable of consuming a ~baseball sized anenome completely, in one night?

Has anyone had a bta disappear for longer than 5 days and end up reappearing?

Sad face :(

A 100 gallon system with live rock offers an anemone a lot of places go unnoticed especially if deflated.
Personally I don't trust Peppermint Shrimp with anemones, having had Peppermint Shrimp eat my maxi-mini anemone.
I sure hope the anemone reappears soon.

I agree, a baseball sized , inflated BTA can deflate down surprisingly small and flat. It could be in a crevice or underneath an overhang where you can’t see it. I’ve had one disappear then reappear before in close to 5 days. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Having once looked for 3 weeks for a missing nem I can vouch for many of the other replies! My 9 inch nem once disappeared, I mean actually disappeared, I found him 3 weeks later INSIDE the internal filter looking very sorry for himself. The only way he could’ve got in there was through the slats at the water intake, they are like 2 millimetres wide, how he managed it I have no idea but manage it he did. It obviously was pitch black in there and when I found him he was about the size of a golf ball and completely balled up. I thought he was dead for sure, I prised him off the side with a credit card (eventually) and moved him back to a crevice in the rock and turned all the flow off. To my absolute amazement 20 mins later he had attached but I still wasn’t hopeful. He has learned his lesson and hasn’t moved since that incident (even though he is now exactly where he started off) that was 2.5 years ago and he is now a foot across when extended and loving life. They are tough, much tougher than we give them credit for. If you haven’t seen signs of yours dead and stuck to the intake of the wave pump or filter then he’s still around somewhere. Wherever you think you’ve looked, look again, and then look again. They look completely different balled up tight and so small, they could fit in a frag hole in a rock even. Hope you find yours, let us know.

What was the outcome? I know it's been a few months now for you. I have 3 pink bubble tips and the biggest, oldest one disappeared overnight 3 days ago without a trace. The other 2 are fine. I've looked everywhere. Im upset over it because he was really getting huge and planted himself in the perfect spot. I'm at a loss. Maybe like others said he's just hiding out in a spot I cant see, but he has to be closed up. Even hiding, if he let his tentacles out I'd see it right away. Fingers crossed he's just hiding away for some reason.

I’m sure he is just hiding, they are mostly water, a 9” nem will close up so small you won’t believe it. Like I said above, if you can’t see bits of it stuck to a wave pump and the water isn’t cloudy then the nem is still hiding somewhere. Let me know how you get on. 3 days isn’t so long, mine was missing for 3 weeks in the complete darkness but he soon recovered.

Ok, thank you! It's a rather large tank too (230g) so he could be in a pretty secluded area. I'll just wait it out! Thank you!
