If you'll could show me the difference between a zoa and a paly that would be great. I though it was as simple as a larger pyolp and a longer stock. For example .
Zoanthids type of structure Vs palythoa pictures. T

Here is a great article to read on the subject of Paly vs Zoa. :)

https://www.cflas.org/identifying-zoanthids/1786

Armor of Gods are Zoanthus Pulchellus. Definitely not a paly.

Distinguishing the Genus Palythoa from Zoanthus
Members of Zoanthus do not incorporate sand into their polyps, members of Palythoa do incorporate sand and other debris into their polyps. The confusion in the hobby is mostly from the incorrect usage of “Paly” to refer to individuals of the species Zoanthus gigantus, Zoanthus solanderi. This should be actively discouraged because it creates unnecessary confusion between the otherwise easily distinguished genera. The genus Protopalythoa is not a valid genus, with all of its members now assigned to Palythoa (see Reimer et al 2006a).
That's a nice read. Thanks :). I'm definitely one of the ones actively going around calling gigatus and solanderi palys. Lol.

Before reading that I would have sworn PE's were palys.

The article I linked will help you know the difference. In 99% of cases, palys will have substrate incorporated into their stalk, while zoanthids will not. MOST coral people call palys are actually not palys.

Me too!! Then I read that and followed the citations, read some more, and realized I'd been doing it all wrong haha.

Regardless of paly v zoa... I still disagree about labeling these armor of gods. Colors and pattern seem off to me. Rocks in the photo are crazy blue. Theres green implosions also in the photo that should be bright green and the color is way off. Its easy to see the photo is blasted in blue light. There isn't a coral out there that shows "true" colors (which I would take to mean the same colors) in both blue and white light.
